Browsing for a new headset

Sup LTT members,

I've been a long term user of Turtle Beach headsets, I like em a lot but they tend to have a major flaw in them. There's a weak spot where these headsets just tend to snap for no apparent reason. This has happened to me 2 times now on the exact same spot with different models. To add, friends of mine reported the same spot and issue on different Turtle Beach headsets they have had in the past. Making the call to stick away from them is quickly made.

But here I am browsing for a new headset knowing one major issue I have to deal with. Microphone quality. I record and upload like many people footage. Commentaries are my thing and yes I know, standalone microphone is the solution!!! But I lack money for such an option. Those things are incredibly expensive here and it's beyond my budget. Simply because I need so hear my games aswell again so headset is a need.

I've been browsing around and there's a lot of decent headsets with great audio but horrible microphones. Though I find models like the Logitech G35 sound fairly ok to me. G430 is something I considered but then I heard the mic. The only thing I just can't get my hands on is wether that model had a refresh as many sites state the G430 as "new" despite it's release in januari 2013. If someone knows more about that it would be great.

Back to the main thing, any recommendations for a headset with great microphone and audio quality that would meet a budget of max €150 (which often translates to $150 for us people here, yeah we get screwed over here).

@ShadowCaptain:

Getting a modmic here costs a lot of money and takes ages (2 months) because of customs.

They add 15 euro's + around 25% of the amount you payed (including shipping)...

Luckeky thia doesnt happen every time, but it is somerhing to keep into consideration.

As for gaming headsets, have you taken a look at steelseries already (siberia v2 or v3)

HyperX Cloud 2 looks appealing but for your budget there should be some better options.

That one went even above €200 here xD

Anyway most of the headsets seems to perform pretty much the same as I search for mic tests all the time. As I expected, finding the sweet spot is going to be a heck of a ride.

If you want a headset, buy the HyperX Cloud (or the Cloud 2 which comes out in a couple of days). Reviews are extremely postive about the Cloud and say that this is the only headset around the €100 range that actually produces great sound.

If you don't care about a seperate mic, buy a nice pair of headphones and a mic.

These options will give you the best audio quality.

i am sure you can purchase from caseking.de, maybe the shpping would be just a lttle extra. if you dont want to spend that much still, i would sincerly recommend the siberia v2 or the pc 350se as end game headset, but the v2 is more for your money

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.
