Does the laptop not have HDMI?

You will have to run an audio cable to the TV

If you get a USB soundcard you could plug it into the USB and then make sure the soundcard has an output that you want.

Edit: since you're using it as a htpc you might want to invest in a good sound solution :)

Point is- i dont fancy myself removing this 70 something inch LCD of my wall to see if there's a 3.5 MM connection. i dont think so tho. will look on the spec sheet tho later.

try using rca cable with 3.5 mm jack if your tv supports it

You can get an external sound card that has optical option, most likely you're TV will have optical and that should get you sound

That wouldn't work as hdmi does not have a separate audio input.
