ERECTOR2015

Hi,

I'm currently building an x99 platform gaming rig. However. I'm not sure on what GPU's would best be suited for the job. I play crisis. battlefield etc.

advice needed and appreciated. Thanks, :)

Wait for R9 300 series and hope the 380/90x in XFIRE can run 4k well. But for now, two 980s would be your best bet (although do keep in mind, two 980s already struggle at 4k in modern titles).

HI There,

Thank you for the advice. Would 4 x gtx 780ti not be suitable?

The 1 less GB of VRAM will hurt it, and someone here managed to easily reach around 3GB's on a 970 at 4K,

My current build - Ever Changing.

I'd wait for R9 380/90x to launch in a couple months, and if you can't wait then two 980s.

I think a GT 610 may handle 4K Gaming perfectly, you should get at least 1FPS, maybe even a whole 2FPS xD

980s are faster than 290x's by a lot.

Yeah i know.

But for the price its a good option.

You are talking about 500 bucks difference.

I'm also talking about tolerable performance on one, and horrible frame drops on the other. 4k isn't cheap now, and taking the cheap route will only lead to bad results.

I guess.

1440p is much more viable.

1000 dollars in gpus.

Jesus.

The choices that make sense:

R9 295x2

2x R9 290(x)

Nvidia has no answer right now. 970s get owned by amd cards at 4k for cheaper, and 980s aren't even close to being worth the price (a single 980 is more expensive than two R9 290s but performs 70% worse).

By the way, if you want a GAMING build, x99 is a waste of money.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I suggested 290x crossfire and people told me it sucked for 4k

:(

Price/performance wise 290x's are much better -- you won't get any arguments from me, but they still can't run 4k well.

We've yet to reach the point where 4k is reasonably priced.

-snip-

Now why don't you go ahead and post the minimums and/or a graph of fps/time. Average FPS doesn't mean all that much as frequent and low minimums are worse than a consistently smooth lower average.
