ATH-M40x, ATH-IM70, Sennheiser momentum, or the Klipsch R6i

hey guys

 

so im planning to get a pair of headphones/earbuds and im wondering what are your views on these. do you guys think any of these are good or are there better ones out there for about $100?

Online reviews say that the klipsch earbuds are not bad but i haven't actually used any of it yet

The Klipsch in-ears are pretty good. They have an emphasis on treble and bass. 

 

Here are some others you might want to consider:

 

NVX XPT100s are hella comfy for ~$99.

 

Shure se215s are nice and balanced with good noise isolation for ~$99

 

My personal pair, AKG k240, are a nice gaming pair for ~$75.

A lot of regulars here will tell you the M40x is great, even better than the M50x.  I have the original M50 (no detachable cable) and absolutely love them.  I'd be wanting to hear a pair of M40x for real, given your list.

Klipsch is one of America's oldest, still operating *speaker* companies.  They are expanding into the headphone market, not coming from it.  Not that their products aren't any good, they probably are...  but with a brand name like that I would be skeptical about getting the best value for my money.

A lot of regulars here will tell you the M40x is great, even better than the M50x. 

M40x ain't better, they're just cheaper and extremely similar.  Only downside is that you have to pay for the 1.2m cable if you get the 40x, and it only swivels 90 degrees, but you still save about 40 bucks.

 

As far as I can tell the IM50/70 are mid-forward earphones that have tight bass, but highs are rolled off more than traditional AT cans, more so in the 50 than the 70.  Good for female vocals.

 

Those are the ones I have experience with.
