Make mounting bracket?

spwath

Could i make some sort of mounting bracket to mount my xspc photon 170 d5 pump/res combo in my ft05? It needs to be mounted from the back, and i cant do that, could i make a bracket for it that allows me to mount it? How would i go about doing this? I have some thin sheet metal i can use.

If you want to mount it to the bottom of your case for example I've seen people use a piece of plexiglass to mount it from the back and have it come down as a stand for the reservoir. I would make sure to use thicker metal if you plan to use metal just to make sure it doesn't resonate or vibrate.

I was thinking of mounting the bracket to the front of my case, just not from the back

Well that's definitely different, are you planning to put it on the exterior of the case?

no, inside.

I see why you are confused, my case is differnt, the front inside is just a big flat panel, its the ft05

Ahhh

That makes sense now, so the front is a solid piece of metal and you can't drill through it, maybe make a mounting plate so it attaches to the top and bottom of the case to hold it in place or a plate that you can double stick with high strength tape to it.

Right. Actualy its two peices of metal, but to remove the outer peice, i have to take apart entire case soo

I guess it can be done by drilling but yeah make sure you have everything in place before the front panel goes back on, you could make a plate so it's wider than the tube reservoir  and mount it to that and use some machine screw to screw it in from the front side of the reservoir through the plate, but you will need to tap the interior piece of the front panel for those screws. It just depends which one is easier for you.

I can't take off the front, that's the problem.

That's a bit of a problem then, have you considered using something like 3M dual lock, it's incredibly strong and will allow you to remove the reservoir for maintenance when needed. It looks very similar to velcro but is much stronger and won't wear out after a certain number of times you stick and remove it.

Yeah...

OK, so that is strong ehough to hold a heave (Glass) res with water in it?

I have the same reservoir waiting to be installed actually and I'm sure with a couple strips of the dual lock your pretty safe. There are 3 types, 170, 250, and 400, which refer to the density of stems that interlock, the more the higher the strength.

Here's just an example:

OK great thanks, I'll order res and Velcro stuff now

Do you have a build log for this, I'd be interested in seeing this watercooled build.
