CPU HSF Clearence on Fractal Define Mini

pakthedude

I have the Fractal Define Mini mATX casing

Currently using AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ (939) with ASRock 939A790GMH and Scythe Mine

I'm going to upgrade to MSI A88XM-Gaming with AMD Athlon 860K and was looking out for new HSF.

Fractal's site shown that the case support CPU HSF up to 160mm

Would there be any issue if I get CPU HSF of 160mm like Cryorig H5 or Noctua NH-D14?

Like problem closing side panel or adding pressure marks on the sound damping material on the side panel?

I'm not sure if there any height diffrence between Intel 115X and AMD AM/FM series which lower the margin of the clearence when using HSF with exactly 160mm in height.

A 160mm heatsink would fit just fine. The clearance specification is generally slightly more than what is stated so that the heatsink wouldn't touch the side panel. Some variation in the panel/case may end up having it touch though.

The height is the same between AMD and Intel.
