Stick with H440 or get a Air 540 for watercooling

Hi everyone, a bit new here but I got my PC the other day and am looking for a second opinion. I got a H440 but now I plan to do a custom loop I was thinking of returning this now for a Corsair Air 540 because of the better airflow, better radiater support. I'm not quite sure if I should stay or swap so what do you think? I paid £90 for the H440 at the time of the Air 540 being £120. The Air 540 has just dropped to £100 although I would have to pay £10 P+P for returning it. I think I like the looks of the H440 a wee bit better since the Air 540 is a cube.

Thanks

If you want to watercool, go with the air 540 but seeing as the name has "Air" in it... but water.. what?

H440 does have rad support.

H440 has more than enough space for water cooling

I have a 240mm rad at the top of my case and a 360 at the front. They cooling the CPU only at the moment but im waiting for my GPU waterblock

Thanks guys, I will be sticking with it. Now just to figure out what to buy parts wise! What do you guys think of the kits?

kits are great especially for beginners as it comes with everything you need.

entry level one is http://www.ekwb.com/shop/kits-cases/kits/ek-kit-l360.html

Thats for CPU only and has a nice small pump/res combo

Then all you would need to add is GPU block +2 fittings for the block

and if you add another rad say a 240 then again another 2fittings

If you buy a Rad/ CPU block/ GPU block/ Pump only/ res only/ pump res combo you will need to buy 2 fittings as well. so anything that has a pipe connecting to it will require 2 fittings

Otherwise if you going to go all out then you need

240mm Rad +2fit

360mm Rad+ 2fit

CPU block + 2fit

GPU block +2fit

Tubing

Pump res combo (would recomend this as its easyier for the small spaces in H440 but its up to you) +2 fittings

Silver coil

Distilled water

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 @1500mhz + 8000Mhz CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k Delided and Overclocked @4.8  MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT  RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory CPU Cooler: Corsair HG10+ H90 +H90 CASE: Corsair 380T  Storage: 120GB Samsung Evo SSD + Crucail 256GB Mx100 + 2TB Seagate/  OS: Windows 10 64bit Power supply:  Corsair RM750

I like everything about that EK kit (price excluded) but it has black tubing :/. I think I will put a parts list together basically the same but with clear tubing and red UV liquid. but again a couple of questions :)

What do you guys think of UV fluid? Any good, I plan to get a stip or a UV res to light it up.

Also if I put a list of parts together dont suppose someone would mind double checking its all compatible  .

And does it matter if I mix and match brands or if it fits then it works?

Thanks guys :)

H440 has pretty good rad support. So does the Air 540. I used to own the Air 540, and I wouldn't justify replacing the H440 over it. Plus, the H440 has sound dampening.

Case Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX | Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z270i | CPU Intel i7-7700K | RAM Team Vulcan 16GB DDR4 | GPU Geforce GTX 1080 Ti | Storage Crucial MX300 1TB M.2 | PSU Corsair RM750x

Anything other than distilled water + silver coil either stains parts or kunks up faster than normal.

I would suggest going for colored tubing over colored liquid but you will be fine either way.

I could look over the list.

Brands shouldnt matter as long as you get the right parts, eg cpu block with G1/4 threads that the pip connection has a G1/4 outter thread with what ever inner thread your pipes uses (my pip i used the following XSPC G1/4" to 1/2" ID, 3/4" OD Fitting
