Is there any reasonable risk of CPU coolers falling off?

gonvres

Just installed my new CPU cooler (the first I've ever done independently). Got a CoolerMaster Hyper T4. Great cooler, significantly better than the stock fans. But one thing I've noticed is that it doesn't seem that well secured. Its held by 1 fairly flimsy retention arm and it does jiggle a tad if you touch it. I'm fairly sure I've installed the cooler correctly. Is this the normal experience? I assume as long as its secure on the CPU (which it is) i've installed it correctly?

Smack it with a hammer!

You want quite snug.  You will see if you have it on right by your temperatures.

It shouldn't come off on its own even if it is a little bit improperly placed. You will, however, see temperature changes with a remount, which is what I would suggest: try remounting it and follow the instruction booklet to the dot.

Watch a video also, if you have not already.

The temps look good. Running prime load tests and hitting maybe 45 degrees celsius. Light years better than stock. Almost unbelievable actually, its like the cpu doesn't generate heat.

If it ain't broke... well, if you haven't, watch a quick video you might want to see someone fix one on... just in case =).

Yeah, I watched a video. The retention arm is a bit tricky and I wasn't entirely sure how tight the bolts over the bracket should go. But Its on pretty secure, its certainly not moving around at all, if I grab it with my hands and move it I get possibly slight flex but nothing substantial. Should be good to go in that case. Thanks for the advice guys.
