Nintendo in profit again and Wii U officially back in the game

The company sold 1.91 million Wii U consoles in the quarter leading up to the end of the year. That is almost the same amount as it did in the Christmas period the year before, which shows that while it isn't getting the same amount of consumer love as the PS4 or Xbox One, it is still steadily being adopted by gamers worldwide. And Wii U owners are thrifty in buying games for their consoles too, with the company having sold 52.87 million Wii U games to date. That's almost six games per owner.

In terms of the 3DS, it comes as no surprise that the European and American markets saw less than expected sales of the current models when the new ones are just around the corner.

The New 3DS and New 3DS XL have done well in Japan, for example, selling an accumulated 1.84 million units since launch.

I hate the new 3ds second joystick. You know those nipple things on doctors' laptops that are pressure sensitive? Yeah. That's what the second "joystick" is. And the second bumper buttons aren't even placed halfway decent, not to mention both bumper buttons are like 3mm wide. How am I supposed to click one and not the other?

It was beyond horrible adertivsed. Even in shops here in ireland the people selling it thought it was a that tablet/pad for a long time.

Most here thought it was a Wii / 3DS style mobile console.

Glad they're doing better.

It's good to see Nintendo turn it around on the Wii U front. Now hopefully the same thing won't happen with the "New" 3ds. They could probably avoid the initial 1-2 year slump that their latest products have had if they just invested a little more in the the advertising/naming department.

Maybe Nintendo will join the rest of the world in the modern age and learn how to implement online services. What they have now is a joke. A joke of all jokes. Their functionality ranks below OLD SCHOOL ORIGINAL XBOX LIVE, much less what we have now or even what the PC marketplace offers up. 

And thats just sad. Nintendo needs to get with the program.

Wii U has had some extremely appealing titles released in the past year or so (if you're a Nintendo fan) and freakin' Mario Party 10 is going to be here soon... Essentially all of my friendships will be ruined by bad manner and star stealing.

 

I think Wii U is awesome, maybe that's just me though. PC/Wii U Master Race.

It's selling better purely because of the quality of games released so far, and upcomig games. I personally think that this is a good thing, also I will consider buying this if a few more rpg's like xeno blade chronicles come out.
