Office 365 question...

minimoose

So I just found that with my Edu email address I can get Office 365 for free on 5 PCs, I installed it on my computer, but I'd like to be able to give the other copies to people I know, is there a way to do that but make it so that my stuff remains separate from their's without turning off all the useful cloud features?

Thanks,

Pretty sure those copies are tied to your account, which means whatever things that they might have, they will connect to your Onedrive account.

this is most likely illegal and on the same level as pirating.

-> no discussion alllowed on LTT.

How is it illegal? I'm allowed to use 5 legit copies I own through my school...

Yeah idk much about that because i have Office 365 for students.

Well, I'm a student also, but the plan that gets you 5 copies is the family plan so I assume that's what this is

I'm know the student plan has 5 copies, but i'm not entirely sure about the Onedrive thing. You can always put the files in folders you know. ;)

Office 365 Works under a general key code you are given when you purchase it so you have that master key then afterwards you can add/remove other people to use that same office 365 subscription.

Here's more on it:

If it's the same as the office 365 that I have, you should be able to add their accounts in the office 365 Web control (something like office.microsoft.com then sign in -> my account). Just make sure that the tos for your specific pack (the student one) allow you to do so.

I'd guess it is a Office 365 ProPlus subscriptions offered from Microsoft through your school?

If you read the license terms only you are allowed to use it.

Microsoft states (in my retail training at least) that the licenses provided by a 365 subscription is intended to be used for multiple devices within a single household. It's not as illegal as it is a grey area, such as emulation if you own the original, or torrenting a game to "try before you buy." Don't just go off giving a license to each of your buddies, because one, they then require your Microsoft credentials, and two, if they're capable of paying for it on their own, they technically should to prevent legal grey areas.
