Need a tablet for college which one should I get under 400$

So I've looked around and the samsung noye 10.1 inch looks nice for 340$ however the surface 2 has microsoft office even though it's stats are far inferior and is also 20$ more expensive. Anyways which one or what would you recommend.

 

*Nothing under 1080p resolution please.

 

*Must have expandable storage (microsd or sd card slot)

 

UPDATE: Deciding between Galaxy note 10.1 (2014 edition) [$340], Galaxy S tablet 10.5 [$447], or Galaxy tablet 10.1 [$280], or Nvidia Shield [$300]

 

Specifically I'd like what the heck is the difference between the 3 galaxy tablets, and what advantages/disadvantages would I have with nvidia shield.

I would consider the nexus tablet. (Not exactly 10.1") or a Sony Xperia tablet Z2 (Though it is a little old)

The Surface is also a good choice, but does not provide much entertainment value with the limited app store. 

 

All of those have top of the line displays.

The Dell Venue 8 is basically the Shield killer. 

Though both are not 10"

no, the sheild has far more features and more ram and better specs, i suggest the asus memo pad for something cheap, the nvidia tegra note

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 inch is a good option.

More of a comparison here.

 

 

But the Dell has a comparable CPU, better display, and a more premium body. (Metal, glass, thin edges, and thinnest tablet right now)

And the fact that it is more expensive, which is something somewhere. 

 

The Shield is really for gaming, but college is not exactly for that...

I have the Shield tablet, its quiet possibly the worst thing I have ever used to write notes, its buggy and there is no good app to write notes with. The pen is the size of a tooth pick and my hand will cramp up after 30 minutes of using the thing.

 

Ill be writing then all of the sudden it thinks im trying to use my fingers and the zoom and pan goes mental, or it will exit the app and launch something. Its trash for notes. The best device I still use is the Asus BP121 ($1400?), its way out of your price range, but the point is that try to look for something with a proper digitilized pen. Theres just no other way around it.

I just got a shield tablet with a 64GB Micro SD and, the cover cost under $500, the cover is a must unless your keyboard has a stand.

I can get a bluetooth keyboard and a tablet stand for under 50$ The shield does have bluetooth right?

For work, RT surpasses Android and iOS.

It might, but you can get great prices on straight-up X86 Windows tablets now, such as the Asus Transformer Book T100.
