If you're looking for a free DDNS service, go with NO-IP. I have 2 dynamic hosts with them and they work flawlessly :)

All the ones i've tried are down, and i'm scared to go try to find my own cuz I don't wanna download a virus. Help?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

like, for turning a dynamic IP into a static IP

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

Ok, so I went with No-IP. I am on the port foreward step. How do I know what sort of router I have? Sorry, not software/IP savvy yet... :( *bows* Teach me, o wise ones...

Open CMD in Windows and type "ipconfig" (No quotes). Look for "Default Gateway" (It should be something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1). Type that IP into the address bar of your web browser and it will come up with your router setup page, on this page it will likely say what model of router you have. If it does not just go to your router in your house and look for the sticker on it that says what model it is :P

If you just want a domain such as example.ddns.net to redirect to your IP which would be something like 214.236.40.122 you shouldn't need to portforward anything. You would only need to portforward if you were hosting something such as a Minecraft Server and you wanted people to connect to it via your NO-IP Domain.

I am hosting a telnet BBS. I need to port foreward. It denied me access.

EDIT: I got this far. What do I do from here:

@Wtalk2

figured it out. with no-ip, when I try to access the IP it gives me, I am blocked when it redirects me to the dynamic IP because the dynamic IP is not forewarded. but, I can't foreward it, because it is Dynamic. Ideas? Help?

Honestly this is out of my area of expertise but the topic of portforwarding is pretty well documented around the internet so I would suggest searching around a bit or maybe creating a new thread about your new problem here so other members can possibly assist you :)
