EK-XRES 140 D5 Vario (incl. pump) question

The manual says that you need to use a extender on the inlets, for some none spesified reason.

Yet, my test shows that a "EK-AF Adapter 90° G1/4 BK Fitting", will fit without any problems.

 

So does anyone knows why its needed to use an extender on that pump-res combo?

 

The reason I'm asking, is because there was only 1 extender in the set and I plan on using the 2nd inlet as an bleed port (since its the lowest port in my loop).

In case its not clear:

 

I'm asking if the ports get damaged or something like that, if I dont use an extender.
