Kingston HyperX cloud + LGA1155 onboard vs Xonar DGX and decent heaphones

Hey guys,

So recently my Logitech G430 broke and I'm looking for a new audio solution.

On Amazon there are lots of reviews that say the combo of a Asus Xonar DGX + Superlux HD681 + Zalman ZM-MIC1 easily beats most of the top tier gaming headsets.

Normally I'd go for it because a lot of people say so, but I'm a little concerned about the mic quality, since mic tests on youtube are all recorded on different soundcards and I sit around in Teamspeak alot.

Then I searched for gaming headsets around a 100$ and the HyperX is praised alot, it even got the STDS-award by Linus :)

But since I don't have a soundcard I'm again concerned about the mic and sound quality.

At the end of the day I'm just thinking about getting new G430 since my refund I'm getting is 20$ more than they cost now, and with them get the Xonar DGX because the G430 almost completely satisfied me, but they aren't loud enough for some movies.

Can you give me some tips?

Thank you

Cloud will be much better build (and sound) quality than any gaming headset. If you're not getting loud enough even at 100% system volume you need an amp. Xonar cards aren't really suitable for headphones due to high output impedance, unfortunately. Syba DAC is slightly better headphone option, it also has a mic input.

Will Clouds still be better even with onboard sound? My mainboard is 3,5 years old.

They'll be better on any sound. In fact they'll probably be much louder because they are far more sensitive than the G430, which is probably why the latter didn't get loud enough for you on movies.

I also have a HyperX Cloud on LGA1155 motherboard (Z75 chipset) and it sounds fine. If anything people complain my mic is too powerful, but then again they are comparing it to crappy turtle beach headsets.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.
