Haha that's a neat idea!

I really want to do some sort of weird build like this, I just don't have the money.

Goodluck!

How much wood can it chuck?

Looks really nice so far^^

It'll be interesting to see what kind of cooling performace you get with a car radiator :)

Yes. And it actually looks like that too.

Dude! I want details! And more content xD I've been with the car radiator idea stuck in my head for a while. I know it has been done plenty of times, if any, common in the old watercooling days, people used components and hardware from all categories to make a loop on their PCs.

But now the scene has changed a lot; and while I'm sure the car rad has certainly the capability of transferring massive amounts of heat; it also has drawbacks. How's the resistance going to be for a PC pump? Will a slow fan have enough pressure to move air through? and most importantly, are there any car rads with copper or brass on them? Or are we stuck with pure aluminum internal pipes? How can you manage corrosion on that setup?

So I actually did this before and you can get ones with copper or brass inside but they have plastic tanks so I chose the all aluminum one that way I could modify the nipples for 1/2 tubing. As far as the corrosion issue I will add an anti corrosion additive to help prevent corrosion.

I'm following to see how it turns out ;)

In my region car rads are so much cheaper than PC rads, even new ones. If this works I can manage the project xD

Update:

So I cut out and fit both floors along with the front power button and usb ports.

post-98134-0-35559100-1422681078.jpg

I cut out the back panel so I have access to cables and the back of the motherboard.

post-98134-0-62825300-1422681144.jpg

I attached the motherboard tray so I can start adding in some of my components soon.

I got my motherboard back from Asus

post-98134-0-74120100-1422681260.jpg

Then I painted all the heatsinks and RAM to match my color scheme

post-98134-0-46274100-1422681303.jpg

I changed some of the hardware in the second pc. I changed the motherboard to a gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2V that way I could fit in a GTX 660 that I found for a good price.

Tomorrow I will be sanding the wood down and cutting some areas so the power supply can fit along with some fans.

This is exactly the kind of stuff that I want to be able to do, but only having rack-mount servers and a laptop doesn't make it easy...

How does one exactly make rack mount servers and a laptop with such cool?
It's not like either of them can have their insides exposed like you can with a PC...

Update:

I have added the rads in, put the motherboard tray in, along with some fans. These pics are actually a week old so a lot has changed since then. I will try to update again soon with more up to date pics. Some things that have changed include the addition to a third system, being x99 with a 5820k.
