Radeon R9 290 CPU combo HELP PLEASE

Go to solution Solved by Sonefiler,

Intel Core i7-4790K

So I recently decided to upgrade my gaming rig and I bought a sapphire Radeon R9 290 but now I'm looking for a CPU to pair it with around the £200 £300 price range and having a really hard time figuring out what to get. I don't mind if it's AMD or INTEL although the main thing I want to run as well as possible is ArmA 3 which tends to prefer INTEL. So what would you recommend as the absolute fastest chip around that price keeping in mind I've already ruled out the AMD FX 9590 as I don't want to spend extra on water cooling?

If you gat a good sli / crossfire m/board and a Intel 4790k CPU then you can upgrade at a later date and get another R9 290 and it will be amazing performance / graphics and there will be basically no bottleneck as the 4790K should easy handle 2x R9 290's if you require another one at a later date.

got to love Asus components
