This is really cool...

I was expecting 12 or 16 weak as piss cores...

But if Zen is decent architecture, than this may be really promising.

They include Sata-e, m.2, and pci-e 3.0 with that DDR4 and I might switch.

Also they need mobo's that look as good as intel mobos (I know it's up to the manufacturer). I just notice that when I look at AMD mobo's....they look old for some reason, at least compared to z97 and even z87

why wouldn't they?

Sweet, I was thinking of buying a 4790K next year but I guess I'll wait for AMD's CPUs!

I really hope they don't have integrated graphics like intel's processors.

We may see a chip without Igpu's but it's a small margin of their market and we don't know enough about HSA with CPU and Dgpu.

Man, Q3 2016 is a long ways away.

Works out better for me since ~2 years is about what I was planning for an upgrade.  Q1 or Q2 2016 would have been a bit early.

If zen can beat out my 5960x I'll jump ship and go team red, but Q3 2016 is a loong time away and I doubt I'll upgrade from a 5960x in just 1 year. I look forward to zen, hope it brings back the AMD stuff I remember!

Yeah, by that time Intel will have it's new architecture Skylake core, Zen is going vs that. If Zen shows to be better than Skylake that will be sweet!

I just hope that top tier multi -core cpus then won't suffer same thing as 5960x is vs 4790k, which is single core performance due to clock. That saddens me :(

I hope you're talking about skylake-e, not mainstream skylake.

But if it is the latter then I do have good reason to update my pc at that time if I see big performance increases even if it's a 10% increase from my 5960x.

I am keenly waiting to see if Keller still has it, A lot has changed in the x86/x64 world since he left.  It's going to be awesome big if he succeeds where several before him have failed.

I doubt skylake desktop cpu's will be out until 2016 anyway, so you're probably right about zen and skylake butting heads. I would suspect that Intel will keep with its quad core and hyperthreading mainstream i7's for another generation or two, so it will be interesting, especially if a Zen core is comparable to a skylake core - hyperthreading would not make up for that.

I still think Intel is still gonna outperform any AMD CPU new or old, but if AMD can really give Intel a run for their money Zen (see what I did there :D) that'd be good for us as consumers.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.
