Uplay Inquiry (Far Cry 4 key revoking issue)

Medic47

lets begin with this; I understand Ubisoft's point of view, re-selling stolen goods is illegal. Would you necessarily buy a Maserati from a guy for 10 grand?? you probably would, but don't get upset when the police impound that 70 thousand car because its stolen. Same thing with video game keys. if the key is stolen, it should be taken away.

However, i have bought games from g2a, but i looked at the seller and made sure it looked legitimate (100% rating with 100's of sales). Granted i bought Far cry 4 for more than half off, but i still paid money. i cant really afford a game at 70 dollars, but if i can get it cheaper and enjoy it, maybe later on when i can afford it, i will go back to that developer and pay full price for it. This key revoking fiasco sucks for every one involved.

On a another note (and a shameful one at that) , do you think putting uplay in offline mode will keep the key from being taken (if it is indeed stolen). i really want to play far cry 4, but don't want the game taken halfway though.

Ill probably be waiting until better steam sales from now on and not buying from g2a again, even if it means paying more.

Its always a risk.

Although, how  the hell do these keys get stolen?

Do they ambush the trucks that carry them?

/s

I think that's always a possibility, also keys purchased from stolen credit cards is becoming a bigger problem too

I experienced the very exact same thing! My FC4 i got from G2A worked perfectly fine until it was banned from Uplay a few days ago. I contacted G2A and Ubisoft. No word from ubisoft yet... I got another FC4 key from the "pick your path" thingy from nvidia since i just bought a 970. :)

Honestly, when it comes to games involving Uplay, I buy them, install them, then get a crack so I don't have to go through the BS that is Uplay.

Why are you saying g2a is selling stolen keys?

The keys they sell are cheaper because they buy them in eastern Europe, where people make a lot less money.

If ubisoft doesn't want this to happen, they should put a region lock on the keys. Like steam is going to do.

i'm just going by what others have stated, including ubisoft themselves. They very well could be legit, but this isn't the first time g2a keys have been gaining traction. The Developers of sniper elite 3 revoked 7000 keys on the basis of them being stolen. back in July. TotalBiscuit has a couple videos about this issue and what the facts are.

Plus credit card fraud can easily buy video games and then sell them for a profit. its an easy buck.

I contacted PayPal about the issue since that's who I paid G2A through when I bought Far Cry 4, and G2A just sent me a new key. I don't know if sending a new key will do anything since it will probably just get banned, so I think I should just wait and see if Ubisoft makes a statement about this before trying to activate the key again.

How many game shops do you think take in stolen games of people and then re-sell them? i think a lot of them do...Do them people who unknowingly know they where stollen get there games taken from them without them knowing? I think not.

Not to mention no one knows if the keys are stollen...Ubisoft exscuse is there not a propper reseller.. That is there sole reason for banning the keys..nothing more.

The fact is Ubisoft hate the fact there games are sold cheap...hence why they cringe and melt when it comes to them thinking about putting one of there games on steam.

Problem is that you bought from G2A, you can't make sure the seller is 100% legitimate. How do you think keys are so cheap on places like G2A? They are bought with stolen credit cards.

unless they can confirm that my code was purchased from a stolen key , they have no reason to remove it ,

EU court rejects EULAs, says digital games can be resold" Case from 2012, where EU court clearly say GAMES CAN BE RESOLD. Until Ubisoft have appropriate evidences about stolen keys, they CANT delete your game! And if so, (illegally or not) they are obligations incurred by law to make up for the mistake . This is irking me so much, I can't worry about this constantly with other work going on. I got pretty decent amount of hours into it. It irks me how Ubisoft doesn't actually explain the reason why they believe its a stolen key? I understand with resellers this may happen but as my first purchase on G2A, I got FC4 and SM from them. Guess what? Steam hasn't removed SM, key was fine, it is legit as far as I can see, so this would indicate that G2A isn't always fraudulent but Ubisoft decides to remove the game? How is FC4 the only game from G2A having this issue? Surely there is something wrong.

Also communication is shit, G2A is willing to fix the issue and give a refund but they want a written document from Ubisoft for the reason...guess what? Ubisoft isn't disclosing shitt!!! One of the negatives of digital distribution via 3rd party...so annoying...I might contact paypal to give a forced refund.

Ubisoft needs a way of determining what keys are stolen, and provide some notice to people that are affected by it. This was poorly executed by Ubisoft, they need to take a better look at the keys that are "potentially" stolen.

i still dont see how you could buy a gazillion keys with credit cards unless you stole a loooot of them or theres an entire network only stealing cards to buy keys..

This is unfortunately why I don't trust G2A completely

atleast they will give you a refund most of the time.

After my FC4 season pass went missing a few days ago, i contacted ubi support and this is what he had to say

We regularly deactivate keys that were fraudulently obtained and resold. In this case, we are currently investigating the origin of the fraud, and will update customers as soon as we have more information to share. In the meantime, customers should contact the vendor from whom they purchased the key.

not only FC 4, my ACU season pass is gone

if you want to keep that game at all I would suggest you not contact support..

I'm sick of the shit coming from people like you.

So quick to bash g2a about not beeing legit. I have bught 30 games from there and only had this one problem..low and behold the problem is with Ubisoft..coincidence? Is it a coincidence that steam has super cheap sale and ubisoft hate putting there games on there.

Please do yourself a favor and stop jump on the g2a are not legit wagon and fuck off.

G2A is dead in my books now. I think maybe I bought one key there but no reason to bother when there are many other affordable options elsewhere and also one can wait til a game gets cheaper on other sites.  Anyway I have seen enough problems with G2A to say no way I give them any money.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S
