may have issues with PS depending on how advanced you used it. Those games are fine on 2 cores. if u have $$ upgrade to i3 but it isn't much of an upgrade. obv get i5 if u can but assuming you don't have money for it.

It'll probably be perfectly fine even if you don't overclock it, looking at the kind of games you play. However it couldn't hurt to give it a bit of an overclock and that'd help boost performance by a significant amount.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

It should be fine. It'll run most games pretty well and I'd look to upgrade to an i5 in the future.

Dude, my school computers run Core 2 Duos, and it runs photo shop smooth. Most photographers don't use the advance stuff anyways lol

If you have a good GPU, the games will be perfectly fine. You might have trouble with PS though, depending on how you use it.

 i wont upgrade for 2 years. would a 860k be better option? can r9 270x/280 run a 21:9 2566 x 1080p monitor?

No, not at all. The Pentium is much better in per-core performance and allows for a far superior upgrade path. And yeah, the 270X/280 will run that monitor, but don't expect to max out graphics in games.

Upgrade path? What's the point in upgrading to a i5/i7 Haswell in two years when AMD or Intel will have something better?  ;)

They may have something better by then, but with Intel, he can get the best i7 for the 1150 socket which is superior to the best CPU for the FM2/FM2+ socket. aka the motherboard that he buys now will determine how soon he needs to buy a new one vs just a new CPU.

Well he doesn't really do anything that uses high threads. 860K can last him a 2 years. I was planning on keeping my 860K and upgrading next year after seeing what Zen/Cannonlake brings. Changed my mind though. But shit... all these build logs are making me jealous  :P .

That is true - the 860K will do him just fine while also offering the 4 cores that some games require now.

From lurking the OPs profile, and his old threads, he says he plays "Consoles" more... lol... So...I guess both Pentium and 860K will work lmao

My old 2010 MacBook Pentium dual core 2.4GHz with Nvidia 320M can run LoL and Photoshop fine. I also rendered videos on it, like 10~20min HD videos, though those took like 1+ hours.

But yeah, if this computer can do it, then a desktop Haswell CPU can definitely can run those applications as well, especially if overclocked and with a decent GPU

CPU: 5820K GPU: Gigabyte G1 970 RAM: 16 GB Crucial Ballistix Mobo: EVGA m-ATX Cooler: Corsair H100i Case: Xigmatek Aquila PSU: NZXT 700W Monitors: 2 x Wasabi Mango (1440p)

Do you play Go/Baduk/Weiqi? I am AGA 4D.
