Need a cheap Nvidia GPU for second screen

hi everyone

so i have noticed something weird with my current setup ( GTX970 driving 1x 1080p screen and 1x 1280x1024 screen)

basically the second screen tanks my FPS when gaming on my 1080p screen , i will use BF4 as an example

With both screens , bf4 maxed out : struggle top stay above 60fps

single 1080p screen , bf4 maxed out : above 80fps all the time

it also does this in other games such as The Crew and Call of duty AW and Far Cry3/4

so i am looking for a cheap as possible Nvidia GPU to drive my second screen , any suggestions ?

NOTE : atm the card will need to drive 1024p @60hz , but i will upgrade my main monitor to 1440p in the near future so the GPU will have to drive 1080p @60hz soon , no gaming on second screen , it is just used for OBS , and twitch chat when i stream

so any one have any suggestions ? Oh also i am in the UK and website dosent really matter :)

thanks in advance :D

that is a very common misconception , my 8350 does not bottleneck my 970 , i have already tested this ......

maybe try lowering the graphics - ? it does stress the gpu when there is two screens.

Even my 4.8 GHz OC'ed FX-8320 slightly bottlenecks my GTX 970, averaging around 85% GPU usage during BF4. Face it man, there's a bottleneck.

What exactly are you doing on the second monitor. I really don't think that you should be loosing 20 fps by having that monitor on.

You did get me there, I've only really monitored GPU usage in BF4, I need to try more games.

I run two 1080p monitors and even with one 970, it was more than suffiecent for one gaming on BF4 at Ultra and one for other stuff. Then again, I'm using a 5820k :P

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

If the issue does not occur when running on one monitor, then it is NOT a bottleneck situation, so let's just drop the topic before it becomes another red vs blue war.

i have the same problem, but with an even worse CPU, when I have some youtube playing on my 2nd screen (1080p) i lose even 30% performance while playing - LoL goes from 100-110 FPS to 70-80 xD

Planning on trying StarCitizen (Highly recommended)? STAR-NR5P-CJFR is my referal link

I can see you loosing 20+ fps when you are actually streaming and that would definitely seem to be a CPU bottleneck. Otherwise there is no way you should be loosing that much performance.

I'm not saying its 100% your CPU's fault but it could be if you are streaming.

FPS dosent really change when i stream , maybe 5fps difference , with that being said , it still dosent explain why i gain 20 fps with my second monitor disconnected ......

Ok then its not your CPU. Um I still don't understand why you are losing that much performance.

This is honestly the extent of my knowledge gone. Do you have another monitor you can borrow and try with it? I don't think this specific monitor could lead to this problem but possibly.
