My tv is on its last leg and is about to die. Before I spend 1200+ to replace my 70" rear projection DLP I was thinking about getting a projector instead. During the day the room has a good amount of light that comes in since it is in my living room. Could a projector for this room be a viable solution or should I just get a tv?

Unless there is a way to make the room pretty dark during the day, just get a tv.

I agree with annoyedshelf. Unless you can dim the room, a TV would be your best choice. A really bright projector coupled with a very low gain screen can work too, but the cost can be astronomical on those (like a laser PJ or a high output SSL).

Large flat panels can be quite affordable nowadays.

I guess the projector is out of the question I kinda figured as much. I was just hoping that they might have come out with something for those type of set ups... I am looking at a 70" vizio. Runs about 1200 so not to bad. Unless someone has a recommendation for a TV in that price point.
