X-Wing Alliance on GOG

I'm curious if anyone has purchased and played this. I own the original 1999 CD copy, and while I know it's sort of possible to mod that version into playability on modern systems, my own results from trying to do so were less than pleasant. I don't mind buying a new copy 16 years later if the experience is considerably better.

 

I'm pretty sure that at the very least they have adjusted it to run on modern versions of Windows. I'm not concerned about that, but:

• Does it support 16:9 resolutions? I think I could only get the original up to 1600*1200, or stretched to 1920*1080. I would love native 1080p (or 4K through DSR).
• I think the original was locked to 30 FPS and I remember there being horrifying levels of screen tearing... any chance the GOG version can run at 60?

GOG just released it a few days ago and I can't seem to find the answers to my questions from the usual internet sources. Thanks for any information.
