People who have played Evolve. Are you still excited for it?

Hey guys. people who have played the beta for evolve. was it as good as you were hoping? even though it is a beta build and stuff will change. and are you still excited for the game to release?

Eh, played but wasn't that impressed and got bored. Nothing new really just a big monster killing random stuff.

Not really. There's no creative space for the players to do things differently each time. Whether you play the Monster or the Hunters, you always play the same way, there isn't any room for variation and experimentation. I played it once in the Big Alpha, realised it wasn't very good. Played it once again the the current Beta, remembered that it wasn't very good.
It's a well polished game, but it becomes repetitive and boring.

its not something Iwas looking forward too, but it seems neat, that being said I am not thrilled with how they have foreshadowed how much dlc is gonna be in this thing, basicly saying "its been built from the ground up" for dlc

I've been following it very little, but have been playing when an alpha/beta pops up.

 

For the content and how much it's worth, I wouldn't pay $60 for this. The DLC alone is just shady business tactics and I am very disappointed with the developers.

 

This is $10 bargain bin material to me, but if you have a group of friends that will all be playing this game and enjoy it then buy it, but I doubt even my friends would play this for more than a day.

I have only played the ALPHA and i hated it.

The game was all about running and trying to find a monster who was trying to hide from you until he was too strong and then simply raped everbody.

The ALPHA also had the problem where it didnt explain nothing about the weapons and classes so you had no idea what many of you weapons,abilities did.

In conclusion, if they didnt do a massive overall of the game I am not interested, plus all the controversy (lots of DLC and Expansions for a unreleased game) going around it.

nothing special, i was quite laggy and mouse lag (i played the first alpha)

the graphics are good tho.

as a hunter you just track the monster ,then just jump around it and shoot at it,avoid its attacks.... thats it, not much teamwork

There were so many people on this forum giving out codes that if I really wanted to I could easily get a code and play it but I didn't bother as the game just looks like nothing special and a game that would bore me in an hour or so of playing.

I haven't played it, but I've watched it quite a bit. To me it doesn't seem like a bad game, conceptually at least.

The way they've balanced the games just doesn't look fun. The monster is WAY too big and can take too much damage, and so do the hunters.

This is just my guess though.

 

Look at the source game "The Hidden", it's the same idea, one monster versus a group of hunters. However, it's tons of more fun than Evolve despite it just being a freeware source game.

Everyone is always at risk because they can be killed with a single attack if they're not paying attention, even the monster. I think the amount of damage everything can take in Evolve makes it feel off.

The Beta was fun, but I could see myself getting tired of it after a short time(Maybe, Maybe not). I couldn't justify a 60 dollar purchase if I'm only going to plat it a handful of times.

After seeing the pricing/DLC chart someone made for the game that looked similar to an Ubisoft chart I lost interest in buying the game.  I really did enjoy playing the game but definitely was a fail at monster but if they would have sold this game at say $49.99 on Steam and included the stuff that some of the higher initial packages have then I would have bought it.  Also the price on the season pass at $9.99 and then I'd be ok with it. Lastly make DLC things that people don't really need most of the time like skins and people will still buy those things and price them reasonable. Sorry but I am not paying $15 for new monsters.

Not really. I was eager to try it out, but it just turned out to be kinda mediocre. It's not awful, but I couldn't play more than two games at a time without getting bored.

 Played both the Alpha and Beta, I was really excited for this game, but I won't be getting it. It just lacks a competitive backbone like TRs previous games.

I got bored very fast. I dont like the colour scheme of maps. Game doesnt impress me and "turning moba into fps" was a good idea but not done very well (its boring after a while).

Games i play and dont find boring even though they are repetitive: LoL, BF4, CS:GO, Warcraft 3 custom maps, Midevial Chivlery, Next car game.

Evolve just isnt for me.

Not at all. Seems very empty as far as content goes, and the gameplay is far from groundbreaking.

honestly, i wish i could say i was.. but no. im not, if its a $60.00 game, i will not recommend it to anyone. if its a $20.00-$30.00 game id recommend it to some people, but its not.. it just dosnt feel like a complete game. kind of like titanfall, good at multiplayer but it isnt a full game. personally i wont buy it. not my style game and i refuse to pay for quarter games that are later half games with DLC.

Not really. I just don't really like the fact that the other team has 5 including a pet that once it smells you, it will chase until you're found.

I played L4D2 a lot, like 1k hours, but Evolve ? I was really excited, mostly because of the new asymetric feature.

The game is polished, but as many said, there is no room for real challenge, or improvisation.

 

Maybe they will release a "l4d" mode like and it can be interesting.

 

That's sad, because I wanted to like the game. And I didn't even mentionned the DLC part.

 

Oh and they should have kept the same server system L4D had: in Evolve you can't have dedicated server = no modding. What made L4D/L4D2 great competitive game was that we had mods.
