cpu cooling

I'm looking for parts for an editing rig. I'll be using the i7-4790k. Will the h55 deliver enough to keep it cool for a long lifespan?

Yes it will, but 120mm/140mm AIOs often cost more and perform worse than their air cooler counterparts. For $50, a better option would be a Be Quiet! Dark Rock/Shadow Rock CPU cooler, or a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO for $30 that will perform on par with the H55. Or up your budget to around $80 and there are some good 240mm AIOs in that range.

Your best bet is to go with a good air cooler for now and then upgrade to a 240mm or 280mm watercooler in the future.

The lowest AIO cooler I'd go with is Corsair H100i ($90 on Amazon US)

Case Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX | Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z270i | CPU Intel i7-7700K | RAM Team Vulcan 16GB DDR4 | GPU Geforce GTX 1080 Ti | Storage Crucial MX300 1TB M.2 | PSU Corsair RM750x
