Mcafee,Kaspersky,Avast,Norton,MS Defender. well I dont even have a AV since this 2012 and never had a single problem since then but I used Eset NOD32 for 3 years and is great I highly suggest anyone who needs a AV to use that (and its kinda cheap over here too)

How O_O?

It has never failed me before

I've broken Windows beyond repair, never with a piece of software that didn't want to install, spammed my desktop every other second with a fucking ad or notification, and would not even uninstall or terminate the process no matter what.

Worst. Thing. Ever.

AVG works..

AVG, king of false positives.

Other free options like Avast didn't feel quite secure either.

MBAM is good.

MSE never gave problems, but never detected anything either.

Currently using Bitdefender Total Security 2015.

If you don't visit shady sites, download risky shit, or click strange stuff then MSE should be all you need.

I've heard good things about bitdefender. Is the free version decent?

Norton. Taking every resource available and leaving none for you..

Right now I'm using Avira's Free Antivirus. Has NEVER bothered me, doesn't take much resources, and detects every virus. No false positives as of now.

My school give our Laptop Avast with a paid subscription and It works very well in Live Blocking

Because he had a hard drive.

AVG - let in multiple vbs-based trojans in our network, no proactive protection

Norton - resource hog, ineffective, false positives, not worth the money for a subscription

McAfee - resource hog, not worth the money for a subscription

Avast is fine once you've pinned down the settings but they're getting naggy on the free version...

you know how there is g2a and such for games. Is there a similar site for Software. I wanna try out BitDefender, but 25 bucks seems a bit steep ^^

Would not use:

- Kaspersky, its fine until your license run out, then it slows your pc so baaaaadddd.

- Macafe its absolutely useless.

- AVG false positive on everything u download/install.

- NOD32 just like AVG, false positive all the time and take ages to figure out how to add something to exclude list.

- Norton tried it back in 2010,2012,2013 and its still as bad as it was before :D.

What i use:

- Avast which is fine, had few problems with it but managed to deal with them.

Avast. It locked my files and then required me to send those documents to HQ to unlock them. This was before they added exclusions in the settings.

It's awesome. Does not bother you at all and it does practically everything.

G2A is an unauthorized reseller. Are you looking for cheap stores regardless of their legality, or do you want a cheap authorized deal from legitimate sources?

Also, Bitdefender Total Security was free for 1 year on sharewareonsale. Right now they're giving away the AVG Security Suite. I would have gotten that BD myself, but you can't disable the firewall in it and I love my Comodo. So Bitdefender Free + Comodo it is for me.

if they were illicit they wouldn't exist. If I was looking for a full version for free, there are many illegal means. I want to pay for it, and if I can't find it any cheaper than Amazon, I'll buy it there. Was just wondering of there was a cheaper etailer.

There are many illicit cd-key stores and shutting them down is not an easy process. https://twitter.com/devolverdigital/status/466577590606520320 - among other evidence. Their customer support is in Poland but their server/business seems to be in China. So getting EU law to clamp down on them isn't a simple matter. I'd have gotten them closed or regulated by now if I could find out who to contact to get it done. But they just continue paying people so that no one looks into the ways they acquire their games, not even noticing their highly illegal consumer practices like G2A Shield.

Like I said, doing the sharewareonsale deals and other promotions is a good way to get protection, and it has sales. If you catch some Newegg deals you can get things like Nod32 or Bitdefender for $10-ish.
