  • you can "maximize" the start menu to look like the windows 8 menu

  • windows 10 is free to windows 7+ users entirely forever for free

Spartan Browser

  • annotate right on the web with a pen or finger

    • can be done with more than just touch and pen... can comment like in word but with a keyboard

  • has cortana built right in which will have curated information on different websites like contact info, address, menu, etc

    • eg. right when you land on a restraunts website she can have directions, phone number, address, menu + additional information like ingredients(dietary information) and can even do things like make a reservation

  • new rendering engine built for todays web (lawl)

  • not coming to insider builds yet, but it is coming

 

Cortana on the desktop

  • Cortana "is a trusted assisstant" cortana only knows what you "let" her know about you

  • cortana has her "notebook" you can tell her what to track, you can manually add things or remove them at your whim

  • if you click to type on the search bar near the start button you get a "google now" style information feed

  • cortana can be used through type or voice

  • that search will have traditional "windows 7 style" results as well

  • LINUS WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE OF VOICE CONTROL - 35:00 into the keynote he takes a minute to send a one liner email which required no corrections..

Xbox gaming app

  • "My Games" - everything i play on any windows 10 device

  • friends list, messages, etc - all windows 10 devices and xbox

  • activity feed cross devices as well

  • able to capture the last 30 seconds of gameplay instead of just a normal record button (windows + G)

Holographic

  • no markers, no external cameras, no external wires, no connection to a PC needed

  • Sensors flood the device with terabytes of data every second

  • "high end" CPU, GPU, and HPU(hologram processing unit) inside

  • Has spacial sound so you can hear "holograms" even when they are behind you

  • doesn’t grow hot on your head, because the warm air is vented out through the sides

  • On the right side, buttons allow you to adjust the volume and to control the contrast of the hologram.

 

  • Minecraft already working in Hololens

  • you can obviously tell things aren't real... but it's real enough

  • SKYPE already working, other person can draw onto your hololens so stay you're installing a light switch...

  • someone can tell you where to connect the wires by drawing lines between the wires and the switch

 

  • can't currently grab and manipulate properly with your hands, the gestures are clicking with your finger, voice stuff, and pointing with your face

  • They have demos where you go places like mars... not as immersive as oculus obviously but it melds with the world around you

  • depth camera has a field of vision that spans 120 by 120 degrees

  • toolbox/toykit creation program for holograms

  • creates stuff that you can 3d print easily

  • kind of a preview of a 3d printed object, would allow you to take 3d meshes and essentially walk around them

  • when the last 500-700MB of VRAM gets accessed, memory performance drops significantly

It's not strange some Linux distros can make their installation more streamlined than Windows.

Although Microsoft has all the money in the world, the free, open-source software model is just a superior way of doing things.

I dont know why but I've got v sync issues with linus tech videos since I've brought my 970, I'm running fullscreen 1080p

Its all about those volumetric clouds

+Tek Syndicate apparently the last 500mb of ram on the 970 wasnt a manufacturing problem, it was part of their plan. On Linus's stream it sounded like linus was defending them and justifying nvidia's action, im not trying to bash on Linus. I was just pointing it out. Also AMD cut the price of the R9 290X and there is a picture released by AMD, it says 'AMD Radeon R9 290 Graphics, 4GB means 4GB. Im a little disappointed at Nvidia...
