Before watching this video, I'm going to predict that this is going to be like all other Razer products; gorgeous to look at, but awful to use with build quality that is sub par to other offerings, especially with the higher price tag (that would make you think it's a good product)

Why rage?

Rage was too strong of a word.

It was more that it is the same or worse on the audio quality, less well build, and equal looks to the blue yeti that is half the price.

Looks like a good first try, but it's too expensive.

I'd rather pick my personal setup than this, a lot nicer quality and quite nicely priced.

I use a Blue Yeti, so I have no interest in buying this microphone. What might be interessting though is the shock mount. I'm still using my Yeti on the included stand, much to the dismay of my friends on Skype (Cherry MX Blues) and the shockmount for the Yeti ist ridiculousy expensive. So this optional shock mount, or after a while third party shock mounts might be a viable option.

As for the product. Yes, it might "only" be a reskinned Blue Yeti. But I take that as a good thing. Microphone quality has for too long fallen by the wayside and people stepping up to quality like this is definitely a huge advancement!

Oh, and everyone hating on Razer for the mark up. Yes, the Yeti is 30% cheaper (here in Germany) but Razer does still have R&D costs. These costs have to be accounted for. If people know Razer as a brand that delivers quality, something that I would attest to (although this anecdotal evidence is a problem when it comes to forming an opinion of a manufacturer), then adding another piece to their whole peripheral eco-system for stuff that looks good(taste is subjective, I know) and functions well just plain makes sense.

The issue is that Razer isn't known for their quality, if they were then the fact that they charge a lot for their products wouldn't be such a big deal. But I can't think of a single time I saw someone suggest a Razer product without someone shooting it down due to QC nor can I recall any other manufacturer taking as much shit for their products as Razer -- and Razer isn't the only one to charge a lot for their products -- Logitech and Corsair aren't really any cheaper.

Love the outdoor b-roll that's been in the videos lately, it's a refreshing change to see products in natural lighting.

I wonder how did Linus configured it. There are streamers who used this and they sound horrible according to this forum. This is actually pretty good, except for the price for the majority.

It's not a reskinned Blue Yeti, it's a reskinned Blue Yeti Pro. In Australia, the Seiren is cheaper than a Yeti Pro (sources here and here), so in some cases you might want to buy the Razer product (though buying internationally might be cheaper than that - you just won't get local warranty).

I would like to see Linus do an external microphone showdown with 4-5 mics all around the same price (Like an upgrade your audio type deal-o). I am currently using the AudioTechnica AT202 USB mic and its fantastic.

Wow indeed. When i heard the mic i though "hey, it's similar to the Blue Yeti"... The razer mic looks better IMO, but the Yeti is heavier and sturdy.

Either way, just Linus said, i don't really care about audio modes, so i would prefer to get the Audio Technica AT2020. Looks worse, but sounds better to my ears.
