5400$ Home Theatre School Homework help

So I have gotten School Honework to set up a 5400$ Home Theatre (Not acctualy going to by it, just set it up on a paper and make a presentation of it.)

So I want help to do it. I can find parts and stuff myselves, but I want it to be the best as posible, and that I need help for.

Parts and stuff is not the most important thing I need help with, but I also need that a little bit.  the most important thing is I need good sites that show me how to set a home theatre up so I can learn it. because In the presentation, I need to say how it shuld look and what with that that makes it better and stuff. and how things shall be adjusted. I dont want anything super complicated, but not easy as hell eiter.

what the restrictions are:

5400$(with everything, TV, Speakers, sofa, but the tech stuff is the most important)

The room is 6X5m with one door.

I am going to do the predentation in 2-3 weeks from now.

I am just saying, you dont have to help or do anytthing, but you would make my life easier by doing it.

I may add stuff or clearify stuff later BTW

ps. sorry my bad English ;(

look at an intel nic, they're extremely small so you don't need much room for it also a NAS (network attached storage) as they can store shit tons of data on for things like movies and tv shows. As for speakers and tv, get a HD projector of some sort - that's not really within my knowledge - and surround sound speakers that can be mounted around the wall with a optical input for extremely high quality surround sound audio

hope this helps - Harry :)

got you bro, so im a Sony expert at bestbuy home theater this is what i do like daily lol
-$1,500ish blow their minds by showing a cool 55inch 4k sony x850b - no content out but you're normal 1080p signal will get upscale to a near 4k so you can see all the detail you been missing out all these years.

-$2,300 Bowers and Wilkins MT-50, this is no piece of sh*t bose surround sound lol (BuyOtherSoundEquipment) this is B&W research it.

-$400 for a good Denon Avr 7.1 to handle the B&W and the blueray 4k upscaler.
-$140 for the Sony BDPS6200 whats so special about this blueray player is that is going to upscale any blueray movie you throw at it to a near 4k.

-$140 2x Audioquest Forest 6.5ft HDMI cable to connect the blueray player to the Denon and another for the Denon to the SonyTv, you need these in order for the audio frequency to be crystal clear for the B&W.

-$300 Bell'O PVS4252 Tv stand to put the tv on top and receiver with blue ray player on bottom and enough space to put the center channel speaker of the B&W too. very modern look.

-$120 2x Sanus HTB3b speaker stands for the bowers and wilkins front and rear speakers.

-$420 Post furniture Hazelnut Microfiber Hardwood, recliner sofa for 4 maybe 5 people, sectional so you can play with it.

-$30 Blueray 3D Gravity one of the most amazing 3d movies out there.

-$20 Blueray Lucy great movie that just came out lol

-$30 Blueray 3D Guardians of the Galaxy amazing on 3d

and there you go you're total $5400 tax maybe a little more but you're all set man.

If i was you I would get a 3d projector with the glasses over a TV, imo its a much more imersive when you have a 100+" 1080p screen over a 50" 4k screen

If you want to know anything about projectors (e.g throw ratio and all that stuff) go to

I agree, set aside money for a decent projector and screen. There are a lot of good ones at a budget price nowadays.

Ahha, I cant beleve I did not think about using a PC, I have disapointed myselves...

Aside from the HTPC and NAS, impress your teacher/professor with your knowledge of acoustics by including basic room treatment in the budget. The right room layout and furniture also has a huge effect on how the system will sound. Stay clear of high back recliners for example; while they are indeed comfy, they also mess with your hearing.

You will be wanting this for 4k and 7.1 surround sound

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

@Mihle Gaming

If I were to go about this, I would start by measuring the distances and calculating angles using the average height of a person sitting on the couch you pick out.

This will give you the optimum size TV to place against the wall based on the distance and viewing angle from where you are sitting. Doing the math to prove that say a 55" TV is THE best size when you are sitting 6 feet away, should go a long way to impress your teacher. (that was just a made-up example btw)

You can find these "optimum" measurements online, or cheat and use this calculator

Then I would just go balls out on a sound system.

What about gaming hardware (sorry, my mind goes right to that) integration:

Wii(u?)

PS4

XBox One

Gaming Grade Computer

$2000

That drastically cuts your budget though.

Gaming PC is technically superior if the budget allows for it. If not, then the Xbox One is the most flexible mass market console. The Xbox One has much better media center functionality when compared to the PS4.

I was suggesting them all for $2000.  Mid-Range gaming rig, i5 + 280X or so.  I went a little more, $2300:

XBox One - $350

PS4          - $400

WiiU          - $300

I did not use that kind of a think of using that, if you sit 5 m from the wall, the calc you did show say 120"

That's only a minimum value.

150" should be very fine.

The most you would wanna go for a htpc is for a Kaveri apu as you dont need gpu for 4k watching honeslty

You would want more practical stuff for theatres such as an ssd for faster bootup incase students wait

Spend more on the audio the furniture etc

And you can get a 4k projector possibly

Idk much abt projectors and speakers i do know home theatre as a whole enuf to tell you that kaveri is all you will need and sound and screen is more important

GTX 960 is preferred for a non-gaming 4K HTPC build because it does HEVC decode and 2160p60.
