Congratulations To Comcast, Your 2014 Worst Company In America!

I was scared that people would be silly this time around and vote EA again, because we all know how life altering and savage a game developer can be compared to Comcast, Monsanto, Koch Industries and "any bank on the face of the planet" but its nice to see that the public vote was at least on the right track in laying their blame on some truly awful companies with truly awful practices. 

Personally I would've liked to see Koch Industries win, but c'est la vie. Comcast has done some pretty shady garbage and still continues to do shady garbage all in the name of the almighty dollar. 

Congrats to Monsanto for 2nd place. I'm sure you guys will work extra hard for the golden crown next year! 
 

 

 

 

 

 

From the onset of the day-long bout, lawsuit-lovin’, herbicide-makin’ Monsanto was within striking distance of the Philly Kid, but Comcast gained a hair-thin edge early on and never ceded the lead. 

 

 

Comcast’s road to the Poo started out without a speedbump, as the company powered through the first three rounds without ever giving up more than 30% of the vote. And with two-time reigning champ EA eliminated in Round One by Comcast’s merger partner Time Warner Cable, followed by three-time consecutive runner-up Bank of America’s surprise defeat at the hands of Walmart, Comcast seemed destined for the Final Death Match.

 

But the nation’s largest cable and Internet provider (which is trying to become even larger), almost got stopped in its track by first-time contender SeaWorld, riding high on waves of negative publicity tied to the documentary Blackfish. Comcast pulled off a buzzer-beater to hold off SeaWorld and earn its place in the Final Death Match.

 

Comcast’s win makes it only the second company to claim multiple Poos. Last year, video game biggie EA was both the first two-time winner and its first repeat champ.

Yes, yes they did. Because Comcast actually harms the industry and country they operate in. Ubisoft just releases bad games. 

Then again, people around here have a poor sense of perspective on these things and think gaming is the centre of every universe.

Dare we say it better than steam? They offer 48 hr game trails, 24 hr full refunds after purchase,  their customer service actually is half decent.

And Ubi also harms the industry they are in, incentivising  pre orders and releasing badly optimised games.

Vicodin, actually.  And AFAIK, Origin has friend adding abilities. At least I keep getting requests and what not. 

 

I just find it weird that on a tech site, we get so fixated on gaming as if gaming is the crucial thing for a lot of people. Comcast and their buddies would sooner go down in flames than agree with a more open future of the internet and bandwidth access, and people get more upset that Ubisoft or SOE released a bad game.

Sure origins UI isn't as refined as steams, personally I use steam over origin to talk to friends, but when it comes down to the games themselves, EA has much better policies. The big one just being the refunds, there is so much crap on steam, if there was an option for refunds my library would be about half the size. But that's never going to happen sadly because EA owns/publishes all the games sold(AFAIK) on origin whilst steam doesn't.

My view might be a little skewed partly due to the battlefield franchise. I have over 1000hrs into battlefield games they're some of my favourite games. Worthy mentions of games ea have published/made are titanfall, I thought was a good game(although it got a little repetitive quickly), mass effect series, sims, plants vs zombies, skate, mirrors edge, burnout paradise. I have two step verification set up on all of my accounts so I've have no issues with a compromised account. Sure EA could be better but so could most companies, also they have been lost in the shit storm that is ubisoft.

Monsanto is fairly evil, Koch Brothers might actually be Satans brothers; you're right. Far worse companies that actually do a lot of evil things, even above and beyond what corporations usually do for profits sake.

Well I'm hoping that battlefield hardline and star wars battlefront will be amazing(and not broken, BFH seemed fine in the beta, but again the same issue as titanfall lacked variety). Also another mirrors edge games, anything DICE I'm going to be all over like a rash..

Pretty much, I'm surprised that it wasn't just McDonalds or other fast food corporation but since people call bullshit on the evils of "meat" but don't know enough to call bullshit on the evils of "GMO" then that's their bandwagon for now.
