So I have some spare parts lying around that I could make a folding rig from. 

FM2A88-HD+ *owned*

AMD 6800k *owned*

Coolermaster Thunder 600watt *owned*

Kingston 4gb 1600mhz $46

Fractal Design Core 1100 $55

old laptop HDD *owned*

 

So would this be okay for some folding? 

CPU: i5-4690k GPU: 280x Toxic PSU: Coolermaster V750 Motherboard: Z97X-SOC RAM: Ripjaws 1x8 1600mhz Case: Corsair 750D HDD: WD Blue 1TB

Anything is okay for folding, just make sure your 6800k will be adequately cooled and make sure that both the CPU and on-die GPU are being used for maximum PPD

why not get a cheaper case?

i also think 4gb ram would be enough.

I would rather have a nice building experience and something that would look nice on my desk or wherever I put it. And thanks, I'll go with 4gb instead.

understandable.

 

But you might want to look into a new cpu heatsink. The AMD stock cooler is really loud. Something like an 212 evo is cheap and decent enough.
