New to Folding

Was thinking of doing this, i have a PC just sitting doing nothing. Would this rig be descent for it?

Would the Pentium hold it back?

That rig would do just fine and the Pentium isn't a problem.

That would be a good rig, and the pentium wouldn't hold the GPUs back

The browser can be closed and it will continue folding.

If you want to join LTT the teamnumber is 223518.

Yes, to fold for LTT the team number is 223518

For bonus points (once you complete 10 CPU work units you're eligible for them) you will also need a passkey, you can get one from here: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

Depends, if you're running 24/7 it will be quite an impact.

I guess that system uses about  550w while folding, so 0.55x24=13.2kWh.

Which in my country is about €1.75 per day.

That system itself, shouldn't have to much of an impact, of course depends where you live. Here Canuck ville, might add 10 bucks to my monthly bill...

Also, might I suggest, go into advanced mode, delete the CPU slot and just fold on the two GPU slots. Will probably be better overall PPD that way.

Ok will do that. Im currently running the GPU's at stock settings, should I OC them?

Also i have an i3 rig i could throw a GTX 760 in, would that be worth Folding on?

You can try OC'ing them, but generally Folding doesn't respond well. Try small increments and then test with a couple of completed WU's before increasing it.

And yes, that other system is worth it, every little bit helps. :)

Im just using my GPU's (disabled the CPU) and im going to let it run all weekend. Temps are 68c and 60c at stock speeds so thats good. What 'stats' should i be looking at to see how good my computer is doing?

I'm using a laptop from 2011 with a dual core i5 right now to fold though I don't plan on using it frequently just because yeah I might fold a little more frequently when I have a better system though I'm folding on the web version of F@H Anyways yeah anything can fold it's just that what CPU it is will determine the speed in which it processes the numbers F@H is throwing at it. I don't know too much about F@H besides what I've gathered over the past few weeks with peaks and declines of interest.
