Old heart, new body (damn budget)

I'm posting because I'm excited about starting my first build (albeit a partial build really), but posting here because i havent got the photos off my phone yet.

Current system

Case:    Thermaltake M9

Mobo:   EP45-UD3

CPU:     Intel Core2Duo E8400 (stock cooler)

Ram      2x2GB DDR2

HDD;     512Gb (now replaced with 2x256GB SSD)

Drives:   2 x LG dvd

Fans      2x120mm blue led, molex connected (now replaced with 2 non led with 1 in PWM mobo header and 1 molex with 7V regulator)

Psu:       400W-ish (possibly case psu)

i'm sick of the constant noise (even through the headphones (pretty sure it's the stock cpu cooler making the racket)), so am embarking on this build to bring blessed silence to my domain. While i cant afford to replace the heart of my machine (mobo/cpu/ram), I've been buying the body parts for a quiet build to work with current mobo/cpu, with a veiw to upgrading to LGA1150, or better yet the 2011-v3 circle of goodness :-))).

when I'm done this'll be my (hopefully) whisper quiet system, less than a whisper would be absolutely acceptable lol :-)))

New system

Case:               Fractal Design Define R5 (no window)

Mobo:              Gigabyte EP45-UD3 ATX

CPU:                Intel Core2Duo E8400

CPU Cooler:    Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 (also considering Dark Rock Pro 3)

Ram:               2x2GB DDR2

SDD;               2x256GB SSD)

Drives              1 x LG dvd (recessed to hide behind 5.25 bay cover (aesthetics)

Intake Fans:    2 x Fractal Design GA-14 (case fans both on front connected to case fan regulator switch)

Exhaust Fan:   1 x Be Quiet Silent Wings 2 140mm PWM mobo connected

Psu:                 Corsair RM550

I've already installed the psu into case, and planned/managed cable run, flipped the door to open from left, and moved rear case fan to front, and installed Be Quiet fan in the back, just waiting to get cpu cooler, then it's green light on the transplant :-)))))))))

UPDATE - now built, check Build Logs - 'Old Heart, New Body - 1st Build'

You should just put that thing down already and build a new system.

I take it this is more of just a browsing machine. e8400 is still prob good for your needs. I have e6750 overclocked to 3.4ghz in my mom's machine and it way more then shes needs. Its had a 570 in it which is complete overkill lol
