I'm playing minecraft on an i3 2120 using the integrated graphics, this is slower than the i3 4360 and I still get more than playable framerates. Sorry, but it works fine.

"Playable" Define "Playable". For me Playable is anything above 70... Also what graphics settings.

And if you dont mind me asking, whats your username?  :D

Playable is anything above 50fps. Fast graphics, max smooth lighting, 100%, 6 chunks.

In minecraft? SkeletalPumpkin.

It's possible to move it up 8 chunks but I find it doesn't really help all that much and can start lowering the frame rate too much.

12 gigs, only have 1 allocated to minecraft.

Playing at 1080p, note the fps dips when you take a screenshot. Do remember that the cpu you chose has much faster integrated graphics than mine.

Why an i3? If MC is single threaded and Mr. OP  Intends to buy a gpu would the Pentium G3258 not make more sense? It would give a boost to his game once he can overclock it. :)

Ahh, in which case that rules the Pentium out, it's attractive feature was the OC. i3 it is then.

Hyperthreading for other applications, doesn't gimp you with having to buy another graphics card later, wasted money. A G3258 and an equivalent gpu would cost more in the long run and not give you the extra performance 2 more threads can get you.

Just optifine, this was while running my server in the backgroud too btw, thought I might add that.
