What do you guys think of this Android security app?

LinusTech

They are reaching out to us about working together, and I'm downloading it now to check it out, but I was wondering if anyone in the community has experience with it?

It's called 360 Security and here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qihoo.security&hl=en

So far seems like they are a super legit company (publicly traded and all that) but I feel like it's always good to get the community's feedback about a sponsor if I wasn't familiar with them already.

I don't use anything with Android right now so no way to try it.  Also in regards to tablets and phones I will never use them for banking or anything of the sort so I won't need this sort of app.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

I have only used it for a very short while and it seemed alright. Didn't find a use for it.

It was about on par with Avast for Android, but that wasn't a very necessary app too.

It's decent, definitely the best free Antivirus app out there. I've had some problems with it freezing after a couple of days. (can usually be resolved by reinstalling)

Used it on my Moto X, did have significantly better RAM management and a bit better battery life.

I haven't used it personally, but a friend has and really likes it, mostly for the bloatware removal rather than antivirus though. He has an S4, and says that it removed 1GB of bloatware off it (though whether that is related to the phone or just stuff like clearing the cache is another matter), making his phone much faster (though I would argue that it's not difficult).

well linus this would be great but you need to compare it which means work, using a single anti virus will serve no one well.

As well as Anti Virus, Malware support would be useful. Perhaps a Roundup of competing software.

Have no experience. You usually don't need an antivirus on Android, just don't root and install only from Google Play.

The 'accelerate your phone and save battery' claims seem sketchy.

It's a claim a lot of 'PC speedup' crapware makes. Bloatware removal should be done by the user consciously and manually and energy saving should be left to the OS.

Useing AVG Free on a CM 11 device. For the fact that it doesn't drown my battery like avast did. The app above did freeze several times on stock 4.1Jb, or could be my device only running 1gb of ram on a snapdragon cpu.

I really don't see much point, if you really want to have some nice performance gains the only decent way is rooting.

Root+greenify+custom kernel with decent optimisations

I easily get 24-36 hours of on time on my Nexus 5, SoT ~5 hours

Also Unused RAM is wasted RAM! If theres RAM free then its better to be used for something.. Android already has lots of good optimisations to swap out lesser used apps to allow for the active app to take the memory..

Arch Linux on Samsung 840 EVO 120GB: Startup finished in 1.334s (kernel) + 224ms (userspace) = 1.559s | U mad windoze..?

You'd have to get an in depth look into the way it runs, those permissions scare me. Also if it can take root access like Avast.
