Core 15 is slower, right?

Go to solution Solved by Extingquish,

Yeah, Core15 WUs are an older WU and aren't optimised for newer GPUs I don't think. Also, they don't give bonus points for completing it fast (QRB)

As for skipping WUs, I personally wouldn't do it, since you have to delete it from Roaming manually, plus, it is a donation of computer horsepower, and dumping a work unit for your own personal benefit doesn't seem right to me :/

I have a Core 15 WU right now on both GPU's, and it's hitting them way harder than usual & the PPD has gone in like 1/4 of what I usually get.

This is normal right? I googled around and I found Whaler_99 mentioning that Core 15 aren't optimized very well & hit the GPU harder, I just wanted to double check and make sure this is correct!

Thanks :D

Out of curiosity, is it possible to skip WU?

Core 15 does indeed yield very low point return, that is because

they don't follow the QRB point system. If you look at the point

return it should say that you are only rewarded the base credit

and no bonus points.

And no there isn't a morally just way to skip them, kinda just have

to deal with it.

Thanks guys, I was only asking about skipping because a buddy of mine on teamspeak said I should skip it.  I don't really mind the slower PPD as long as the WU gets done eventually xD

You need to tell that friend of yours a thing or two about ethics.

You don't dump wu's just because they don't award as many

point as others.

I don't mind if people fold for points. As long as they fold that is

totally ok, whatever reason they may be doing it for. what is not

ok is when they start abusing the  system for personal gain and

letting that hamper the project.

update to driver version 327.23 then you wil never have a core 15 :) do a fresh install driver. then reboot but if you do this first pause the f@h app then install the drivers...

Can I be on a newer driver than 327.23? Or do I have to be on that specific one?  I'm unsure if 327.23 has support for maxwell?

No it has no maxwell support but you can always upgrade after it gets newer versions. or try a beta beta driver <----- Not sure if i't will get core 15.

If it has no maxwell support it's not going to work seeing as I have 970's :P  ( I supposed I neglected to mention that in the OP, but my question didn't really involve stating what the GPU's were so I didn't)

I will try a beta driver later on for curiosity sake, for now I don't mind getting core 15's.

FYI - for "skipping" WU's - some people got into deleting WU's when the "beta" Core17 came out and were giving huge points. They would delete old ones in hopes of getting newer Core17's. Stanford has expressly stated this is not allowed and all deleted/missing WU's are monitored. If they notice a system/client with a high numbers of missing WU's, because you delete them, your IP and account is banned. They also slapped down one team a few years back for many members doing this.
