4930k (undervolted), 64GB 2400MHz DDR3 (downclocked to 2133Mhz), Asus X79 Deluxe, 2x GTX 790Tis, 6x monitors, AudioEngineD1 DAC, 2x Card Readers.

Video editing is actually the least intensive thing I do on it, but the software I use is mainly the AdobeSuite: Premiere, After Effects, SpeedGrade, Fireworks, Illustrator, Photoshop and Audition. And Flash for some types of Animation.

i mostly use my macbook wich is actually for school, 8gb ram, 2.8ghz I5 with 512gb PCI-E SSD

planning to get a decent system for it sometime with plenty of storage in it adn the ability to properly record footage on it(youtube vids/tutorials etc) and maybe try rendering again.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Primarily use Premiere Pro. I have a stock 8350, 8 gigs of ram, and a GTX660 for CUDA.

Sure there's faster computers out there, but this one works just fine. Until I need to edit and render out 4k videos, I'll stick with this setup.

I use Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere pro, After effects, and Pro Tools.

System consist of:

  • i7 - 3770k
  • GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H
  • 32gb CORSAIR XMS
  • GTX 670
  • SAMSUNG 840 Pro 256gb
  • 2x Seagate 2tb @ 7200 rpm
  • CORSAIR HX650
Cant say i've had any issues thus far. The system runs flawlessly during the entire process unless im rendering video, in which case I hit 100% usage on the CPU. There wont be need for an ungrade unless i'm consistently bottlenecking my rig while working.

At home I use the system in my profile (Core i5-750, GTX 770, 8 GB, etc. etc.) for some freelance photo editing and design work.
I use an iMac (late 2012 model?) at my workplace. It has a GT 640M, 8 GB of RAM, and what I assume is an Ivy Bridge-based Core i5.

I use Photoshop and InDesign fairly heavily, as well as Illustrator and Flash occasionally.

I use Premiere, After Effects, and Resolve. I have a 4930k, GA-X79-UD4, 32 GB DDR3 at 1600MHz, GTX 780, Xonar Essence ST, Samsung 840 Evo 256 GB, and a 3 TB WD Red. In the near future, I plan on getting another WD Red for RAID 1, and long term, I plan on doing a full update and making the jump to an 8 core (or more, who knows!?) i7 or Xeon.

Question for you guys. How exactly does it help to upgrade RAM when video editing? E.g. Will RAM preview on vegas/AE be faster? What else? I know that rendering is much quicker going from an i3-3220 to an i7-3770k, since I recently upgraded from that.

Anyways I forgot to post mine.

My current Desktop PC:

  • i7-3770k
  • 2 x 4 GB Corsair Vengeance (Blue)
  • CM 500 Watt
  • GA-B75M
  • 3TB HDD
  • 180 GB Intel 530 SSD
  • Hyper 212 Evo
  • XFX 7870 DD
  • Zalman Z9 Plus w stock fans

Audio stuff:

  • Fisher Integrated Stereo AMP CA-860 + HD 449 (Usually for Desktop)
  • Fiio E7 + Momentum On-Ear (Usually for laptop)

See how much it is using when doing your work, if you're using close to 90-100% of your 8GB get more.

The majority of folks I know who use premier, end up getting 16GB very soon after.

With more RAM, you will be able to have longer previews on video editors as well as being able to cache more information - speeding up your workflow.

As for mine, it's in my signature, and I am primarily a photographer with editing done in Lightroom, PhotoShop and some in Photomatix.
