It'll work, but your games won't play in 4k.

It can output at 4K, but you'll never see a game actually render at 4K. The games will still be rendered at the usuals (720p, 792p, 900p, 1080p, etc), and then be upscaled to 4K.

The console can output to 1080p via HDMI.

As 4K monitor is 4x 1080p, then 4 pixels will represent 1 pixel of 1080p, which means that it will be like your 4K monitor was 1080p, and everything should retain it's sharpness (technically you have the pixel grid, but in games, I don't know you will notice).

The only reason why I would see this making any sense at all is if you have a capture card and want to run your console in a window on your computer without taking up ALL of your monitor real estate. Funny enough, that's what I do but with a 1080p monitor and it's not big enough for me to play it in a smaller window.

You are fine. My friend plays his xbone on a 4k tv and he loves it. I do know Destiny will play at 1080p @ 30 fps but it runs better on the ps4. Some games play at 1080p for the xbone but have very bad frame rate drops like Destiny.

You're not understanding what I'm saying.

 

It will still render at 1080p (Or lower, depending on the specific game). But the "resolution" that the console physically outputs will match the TV, so if the TV is 1080p, then it will output at 1080p. If it's 4K, it will output at 4K.

 

Again, as I've said for what, the 3rd time? The actual game will still be rendered at it's native resolution (1080p or lower, depending on the game). It will simply upscale it to 4K when the console outputs to the TV.

 

It's literally the same thing as connecting a PC to a 1080p monitor, and playing a DVD at fullscreen. Is the PC outputting at 1080p? Yes. Is the DVD being rendered at 1080p? No. Is the DVD being rendered at 480p? Yes.

 

Exactly the same concept.

 

I don't own an XBox One, so I can't "make you a video". I can however, quote numerous sources for the official specs of the XBox One:

So I don't know why you're confused. The games will still render at 1080p or lower, but the console itself is upscaling and outputting at 4K (this is not going to increase the image quality, simply quadding up pixels, 4 pixels to represent one "1080p" pixel).

The only thing that will happen is that the monitor will upscale but itll not improve at all as the hardware cant support it

Youll probably see alot of screen tearing and pixels

build a comp if u wanna fully uillise it

Or just use It for media
