Hi! I already have a 4k monitor, Is it goona look fine if I use my xbox on it?,

I'm just too lazy to buy a 1080p monitor :P #brainfart

While a waste of money, the Xbox 360/One should work and look fine with a 4K monitor, but why spend 5X as much on a monitor?

Well, you're just gonna be running the content at 1080p on the Monitor anyway, which will internally upscale it to 4K. It would probably look better while being displayed on a native 1080p monitor/TV.

It might look a tiny bit blurry but thats what happens when you put underpowered hardware in something you brand as "next-gen".

How is it a waste? If you already have a 4K monitor and you then get an Xbox and need something to display it on, surely it's more of a waste to buy a whole new 1080p monitor than to use one you already have?

 

It will look fine. If you were to acquire a AV receiver that could upscale to 4K some time in the future it'd look even better.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

The guy wrote 2 lines. How did you miss that he already has the 4k and wants to avoid buying another monitor?

Depends on the game. 792p 900p and 1080p are it's 3 resolutions.

depends on the scailer. a good one should just make every pixle into 4 and it should be just as sharp as an equivalently sized 1080P screen. A bad scalier could blur it a bit though.

XBox One can technically output 4K. Though it'll likely be at 30 Hz. The games he plays, however, will still be rendered at their native res (1080p, 900p, 792p, etc)

Not entirely true. The XBox One itself will output at 1080p. The games themselves can be rendered at any number of different resolutions, then upscaled to 1080p.

 

It can render at more then just those 3 resolutions. Some XBox One games render at 720p for example, which is one you never mentioned.

In theory it should look fine with games that run at 1920x1080 due to no interpolation.

Maybe the menu. But the Xbox can't even handle 900p properly.

It can output at 4K, but you'll never see a game actually render at 4K. The games will still be rendered at the usuals (720p, 792p, 900p, 1080p, etc), and then be upscaled to 4K.

Which is what I meant. The display will be the displays resolution. Like with the PS3.

Yeah sorry that's what I meant - that the games he plays won't be rendered at 4K.

that is basically putting a low price to proformace 450$ PC running 4K no unless you run 720p or 1080p or 728p
