Far Cry 4: What graphic settings are equilevant to consoles?

hknutsen

Just wondering. If I use the High preset with my GTX 970, I get 60 fps in most areas, except in some villages and Shanath, or when a lot is happening on the screen. If I turn the texture quality down to medium, I get 60 fps at all times. What graphic settings are equilevant to the consoles?

All on low/off.

800x600

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

You either have to find a gamepad or get seriously drunk to match precision of keyboard and mouse to that of a controller.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Realistically, probably some mixture of medium/high with AA off, and possibly upscaled from 900p.

Console games often do look "okay," but it's because the developers are perfectly happy to cleave the framerate in half to make sure they can claim they have the best graphics at E3.

No disagreement here. I feel like my statement was pretty generous to consoles, and it still sounds horrible to me. :P

I get 60 pretty much constantly on ultra, but in some areas (like in Shangri-La) I dip down to the 50s, sometimes even mid 40s. If I turn off vsync, my game stutters all the time. If I turn on vsync, my game stutters a lot the second I drop below 60 (which is expected when using vsync of course).

I haven't gotten any of the stuttering people complain about, just really bad screen tearing so I use v sync as well lol. Also what CPU are you using. Out of curiosity.

If you want to know just how weak the consoles are, go to nvidia control panel and set the game to adaptive half vsync (30 FPS) like the consoles and have a blast with Nvidia DSR and Ultras.

Consoles seem like low with mip mapping disabled and even worse pop in than that.

Also you do not need high AA with Nvidia DSR/AMD VSR. Downsampling is the best AA there is. Can make the game look insanely good at 30 FPS.

60 FPS? Disable mip mapping in the xml file. You will get pop in (not as bad as the consoles) but it will still look better and be 60 FPS without stutter. It is a CPU optimization issue, not a GPU issue. The GTX 970 should run well past 1080p ultra at 60 fps without stutter. The CPU that can do that does not exist due to the game getting bogged down on one core.

PS4 = 1080p Native

XB1 = 1440x1080p Native upscaled with Voodoo Magic

30fps :/

I tend to think closer to 'High' than medium details with their console version of HRAA/SMAA techniques as well.

Still does look damn nice on console... and yeah, AMD VSR 3200x1800 plays well on my machine with 31-36fps average on Ultra/SMAA /w High Shadows

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Isn't the "upscaling" just a matter of rendering the game @ 1080p whilst outputting @ sub 1080p?

Opposite, but easy to confuse, rendering the game at 1440x1080p native then outputting (upscaled non native) at 1920x1080p, the way you typed it would be 'downscaling'.

But overall, rendering a lesser demanding resolution 1440x1080 over 1920x1080 saving some pixels in the process and outputting the final images at 1920x1080p from 1440x1080p, most people wouldn't notice unless your 50cm++ away looking for differences.

I don't recommend you trying - it will just give you a terrible "console" experience. You are PC gamer so:

Keep Calm

AND

Enjoy the beauty of PC graphics

AND

Let those console gamers "think" they get something

Which, you are in fact getting!
