How often do you use an optical drive?

PowerPigeon

I've just bought a NZXT H440 for my first build, and while I don't actually have it yet, I've noticed that many review videos mention the lack of optical drives. This got me thinking about when I have actually used an optical drive in the past. My MacBook Pro has one, and I think that last time I used it that I can remember was over a year ago to play The Sims 3 before I had a digital copy of it. I'm definitely not afraid of not having an optical drive, I've purchased an external to install my OS and that is the only time I can see myself using it. What about you?

Mine's full of dust from not being used.

In the last 2 years I used mine maybe 2 or 3 times to install Windows, and even that could have been done via USB.

I have an external. Aside from that I always build my PCs without an optical drive as that just makes the front look bad and cable management is harder.

you would use it for the OS if you don't put it on a USB drive you would almost never use it unless you like watching movies on DVD's and stuff

Every day since downloading games from the internet isnt a thing yet in my country so everybody buys a game 20€ more expensive than the e.g. g2a price and installs it to their pre-made crappy pc (with probablly no gpu)

Only when installing an OS. I've had bad experiences with installing Windows 7 from a USB stick.

Well at home I rarely use it, at work I use it constantly. I admin for a energy company and they own 20 convenience stores so I always have to burn discs for the police. When I am in my office I use it for tons of programs etc that are sent. So at work Optical drives are very relevant to me.

Use it one or twice a week for movies then have older stuff on CD/DVD's I need to access from time to time.

NetFlix still has movies via DVD that are not available via stream so if you don't just watch streamed movies its a must or you end up limited.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.
