Laptop Hunt: HP OMEN?

I'm sure some of you have heard of it, its HP's take at a decent gaming class laptop. The specs are similar internally to a Lenovo Y50, but appear to have a more premium feel and better build quality (As well as a screen that doesn't need to be replaced). So what do you think of it? I would get the entry model at $1500 USD, would be a beast for collage and seems to be great for the price point. What would you go with?

look for a cheaper brand

 

Asus may have a better model for the same price as the Omen

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Omen was part of Voodoo PC founded by Rahul Sood. I believed during that time Dell bought Alienware and HP wanted a piece of the pie too so they bought Voodoo PC.

HP? Never gonna want to bother with their laptops again. Lenovo or Asus are better options.

Very nice looking laptop, but 17 inches at over 8 pounds is not something I would want to carry around with me.

Looks nice, but HP is not a company I would trust to make a reliable gaming laptop as even their lower powered multimedia laptops tend to have heat issues.
