Anyone here use an XBone one controller on Windows 7?

flibberdipper

I have the XBone controller on my Christmas list, and my friend told me that it has issues with Windows 7 and a lot of the games that will only use a 360 controller. Does anyone here have one that they can tell me how it does?

I have been using a 360 controller but I will try my xbox one controller tonight. I will get back with you unless someone answers you. What games you want me to try? I have a lot of games lol. I don't have the new EA games because I only use steam.

I do and it works perfectly. Game that are designed for 360 controller treat it as a 360 controller. Aside from not having a wireless option I have zero complaints with it on Win7. Although I do hear that the DualShock 4 makes a better PC controller.

Haven't found a game that supports controllers that doesn't work with it, Need for speed underground 2 works so i assume everything will be fine. Make sure you update windows as well doesn't connect otherwise.

Personally, DualShock controllers begin to make my hands sore after a while, unlike my 360 controller. I do have a nice blue DualShock controller for my PS2 though. :D And wired is good for me, actually. I have enough wireless interference as it is. Thanks a ton for telling me this junk. :D

XBox one works perfect on Windows 7. Games assign it with the XBox 360 setup in their menus (as the controllers are the same). There is a Microsoft driver for it (just google XBox One PC driver).

I use mine all the time.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

When I had 7 installed, my One controller worked fine. Most games recognized it as just a Microsoft Controller for Windows. Still works fine on 8.1. In Dolphin it's GAMEPAD_1 or something.

Games with controller support in windows use XInput as interface. So as long as controller supports that, you are fine.

Why not just get a regular Xbox controller? They're literally perfect as is.

They won't work without driver work arounds. You're better off getting a 360 controller. Xbox one controller works fine on windows 8.1. I'm not sure about 7, but it should work with a driver update.

I have one and it works just fine. Takes a min for the computer to recognize it, but after that, every game I have tried (Crysis 3, tomb raider, portal 2, grid auto sport, batman AO, arkham city, and arkham asylum ) work just fine for me.

I have a cheap-o X360 controller for xbox and Pc, but I am thinking of getting a good controller, so I can play racing games, without spending big bucks on a steering wheel

Not sure about Windows 7, but on Windows 8.1 it works perfectly fine for me...just requires a microUSB cable to work and the installation of drivers.

Download drivers here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/controller-pc-compatibility

After that, if you have a wire to charge the controller with, it should just be plug and play from there.

If this post helped you, mark it as solved and give it a like - Always like seeing when someones issue has been solved. :)

So I got my XBone controller today. I plugged it in to my PC with a micro USB cable and Windows 7 just installed the drivers automatically. I played Battleblock Theater and it works just fine. Will try it out with other games. Hope this this helpful.

Got an Xbone controller this morning for Christmas, and it's working perfectly with Windows 7. Like, immediately perfectly with no setup needed. Delightfully it doesn't even need batteries, since it's plugged in via USB.

Well, worked great with Fez, anyway. Now I need more controller-centric games.
