hifi is very quiet when connected to my PC

üiqjü4

I have a pair of KEF bookshelf speakers and a Denon amp that I would like to connect to my pc. I have the speakers connected to the amp and a 3.5mm audio jack that connects to the pc's line out. My problem is that the speakers are very quiet when using them with my pc, contrary to playing a CD from the same hifi or listening to the radio.

your help is greatly appreciated

Which input did you use on the Denon amp?

If the volume settings on the PC are already up, you can try using a DAC with pre-outs instead.

I forgot to say that the 3.5mm has an rca on the other end so I just plugged the rca cable in the demon amp, there are only two rca inputs so I already tried to switch to the second two rca ports.

If you've confirmed that your volume controls are up, one of the items below may be able to help.

If your PC has an optical output, something as cheap as this may work:

http://www.amazon.com/D3-Digital-Converter-Optical-Toslink/dp/B005K2TXMO

Without optical out, something like this perhaps:

http://www.amazon.com/Signstek-Coaxial-Converter-Decoder-Analogue/dp/B00FEDHHKE

If you're willing to spend more, there are a lot of higher quality options.
