Need help finding a good mouse

Go to solution Solved by STRMfrmXMN,

Yeah, I was very impressed with that one!

Go for it man! Here's some video info about it too if you haven't watched them already.

Hi there

I am looking for a good mouse to replace my trusty apple Mighty Mouse that I use with my retina iMac. My requirements are

- it needs to be ergonomic

- reliability is key

- Be able to reach at least 1500 DPI/CPI

- No flashy striking logo/ minimalistic look

I am currently eyeballing the Logitech Performance Mouse MX

BTW don't worry too much about Mac Compatibility as most mice work with max even without the manufacturers drivers.

Well i have a Performance MX in my hand atm, and i'm very happy with it! It's very reliable, as long as the receiver is at a close distance. Battery life is very good and you can charge it while using, it can get a bit hot during charging, but it doesn't matter for me.

Ergonomic, yes! very! Never had any issues with pain or uncomfortable feelings or anything. it's all fine!

DPI, well just install logitech setpoint and you can configure it as you please. For example i have the zoom button configured to change the DPI. Works just fine :)

edit: about the battery life, it gets shipped with a battery (at least in my case) and the battery is really good. I have it for more than 3 years now, and it still has that same battery. And the life of it is still very good.

I can use it for almost 2 weeks on 1 charge, and it charges quite fast (2-3 hours while using).

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

It sounds like the MX will suit you wonderfully if you've been looking at these sorts of factors. Can't say it's a bad mouse, although it's wireless which has it's drawbacks.

If you want an ergonomic mouse, the Logitech G602 is pretty much as ergonomic a mouse as it gets.

I had deeply considered that mouse, but that "Gamer" look to it drew me away. And I don't game alot, so I couldnt really care for the input lag unless it is extreme.

Looked at it, and those lines are a major flaw in the looks department. I saw the corsiar vengence m95 and quite liked it, but it probably won't be as ergonomic as the performance mx and those buttons do seem to get in thay, as said by some reviews.

What do you guys think about the Mionix Naos 3200 or Func MS 3?

I would go for Naos 7000 instead. Has a better sensor than either of those. Personally, I was debating between MS-3 rev2, Naos 7000 and Qpad 5K. In the end, I went with the Naos 7000 because of its optical sensor and far wider audience.

I've had mine for just over a month and so far, it's been an excellent mouse.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.

I have a performance MX and to be honest I'm fairly upset about it. Very often it has bouts of double clicking as well as an inability to click and drag...during those times if I really firmly press further up on the mouse it will do what it's told. Whatever switch they're using doesn't seem to have a long lifespan (my previous logitech mouse had the same issue). It also is fairly susceptible to interference and has problems registering clicks when other wireless devices are nearby, even from other logitech products. Ever since my logitech g930 broke and I've had to start using my speakers, my mouse and logitech k800 keyboard with broken keys works much more consistently.

As you can tell I'm pretty salty with logitech right now. Everything I've bought from them in the past 5 years has broken, has never worked very well or both. In fact...thinking back...the only logitech product I've purchased that works as expected and does so long past the warranty are my 5.1 speakers I bought about 10 years ago...those are solid. So either everything but their speakers are crap or the company has gone to pot in the past 5 years. I've placed them in my "never buy again" list...right under HP.

I don't use a DPI above 1600, and these "7000" and "8200" DPI and find them extremly overkill, I'm going to skip out on getting the performance mx, as this is the 8th time replacing my logitech k800 for my home theater PC.

I have not had the same luxury of experiance with logitech devices as you have... I have had 8 Logitech K800s die on me, each within 6 months of normal usage...the last reliable Logitech device I had owned is a Logitech Revolution MX, which is now discountinued.

Wow that is kind of surprising as it seems most the reviews on that keyboard have mainly all been very positive, although i have not had any experience with any logitech keyboard other than the old G15 and that worked great for me. Were those covered under warranty?

What about my Logitech M500? I know it won't reach 1500 DPI but you can just turn up the mouse sensitivity in either A. Setpoint, or B, your OS. I turn the sensitivity up in Setpoint and it works at what would seem to be a higher DPI even though it isn't actually at that DPI.

EDIT: Also look into the Steelseries Sensei or Rival.

I used to have a A4Tech Bloody V8MA that I got for free at some event and use it for my gaming rig, I quickly became addicted to the 1600 DPI, just can't go back.

Edit: The Sensei Wireless does look very compelling, but kinda worried of the ergonomics. I use a computer 8+ hours a day, so ergonomics are very important.

It's a lot more comfortable when you hold it in your hands I promise. If you have a Best Buy around you, I know that they had a Rival on display and you can see if that fits your hand nicely there if you have one. Also, check out Zowie mice - they feel amazing.

My Coworker had a Revolution MX, Logitech replaced it with a Performance MX after it failed, and the Performance MX just failed and Logitech refuses to replace it ad they say the Revolution MX is out of warrenty.
