Would these fans work for my HDD cooler?

I have a Masscool HDD cooler from years ago (it was absolutely terrible...) The fans are terrible, I originally owned one of these and one of the fans started making LOUD noises after just a few months, I got it replaced under warranty and the same exact thing happened. Anyways, I want to store my HDD in my 5 1/4 inch bays for my water cooling loop I'm setting up in next week! I had to remove the HDD cages. This will work perfect but the fans are trash. I was thinking about replacing them with these Noctuas. The back of the Masscool HDD cooler box just mentions they are 40mm fans, 40 x 40 x 10mm.

Will they fit in the cooler? I believe that these are 40mm fans from Noctua.

They will fit, but its a waste of money to get 40mm Noctuas for an HDD cooler (well, its a waste of money to get 40mm Noctuas for anything). Get these instead.

Well I want to cool my HDD, and need it in the 5 1/4 inch bays so I couldn't really call it a waste of money. But I'll check out those they are half as much. And I don't want to buy some trash ones that fail after 3 months like the ones that came with this did.

I said 40mm Noctuas. The 40mm Fractal Silent R2 that I linked perform very well (I have one cooling my northbridge), and you're likely not to notice a difference between the performance of it and the Noctua. The ones that come with HDD coolers are crap that's for sure, but the R2 for me has been going strong for quite a while now for me, zero issues with it so far.

Well I figured it would be good to cool it, I know it's not exactly a CPU but ya. Also even if I didn't bother fan cooling it I would still need some sort of brace to hold it in there.  Seems a bit silly to mount it into the HDD cooler without any fans.

There is no point installing fans it's i

Just extra noise for no reason

Ok, but I still need to put it in my 5 1/4 inch bays. So should I just install it into the HDD cooler with no fans? Actually that's what I have currently going on, as long as it's cool I don't mind less noise and a little more money in my pocket.

Yeah just install it without any fans, hard drives don't really need any cooling
