Nvidia Grid

FloRolf

Hey guys,

i dont really know where to put this so i just chose general discussion.

Here's my weird "problem".

I have a Nvidia Shield Tab and up till one or two weeks ago i could use the Nvidia Grid streaming service which i found rather weird because i thought it was only available in the us.

It worked pretty damn good and i could play all games really fluently. But now when i enter the Grid thingy it says that it is not available and will be sometime in 2015.

How are your experiences with grid (if you have any)?

OH, I live in germany btw. nvidia also says servers are on the east/west coast of US and ireland (why the fuck ireland?!)

It's just really strange...

It's saying that it's not available? You should just be able to go through that. That's at least what I'm managing to do on my Portable.

I find GRID pretty good but my connections are hardly ideal. I have to use 3G on my phone. to get enough bandwidth, but then the ping, jitter and frame loss are pretty ridiculous. It's playable, as much as playing the game on a low-end PC on high settings with extra input lag.

However, there's a cafe with awesome guest Wi-Fi. I'll try the free 30 minute trial on it and see if I can get some good gameplay out of GRID.

The reason the servers are in Ireland is the same reason that Germany has a datacenter in Ireland (I think) - something to do with either tax or cheap floorspace. I don't entirely remember.

I'll do some research.

Sig under construction.

Okay, so the reasons that Ireland is a good place for datacenters:

1) The tax conditions are pretty nice.

2) The climate might be a good enough reason - pretty cold so good for cheap, effective cooling.

3) Ireland's location is good for this because you can get good connectivity to Western Europe.

Sig under construction.

Still works from Sweden; It connects to the San Jose servers, though.

Cheers,
