From the very directed questions my mom was asking me while she was on the phone from the store today I predict I will be getting Destiny for Christmas. I played it in the beta and thought it was a lot of fun. Anyone want to tell me a bit about the actual game

It's vanilla WoW with way less content and boring raids while being a console shooter. Oh and no meaningful story in any way. So, yeah.... Not brilliant from what I've heard.

I like shooting stuff. And loot. I like loot. 

 

It got 4/5 from the normal console review sites. So for a console exclusive it can't be that bad. I'm not expecting it to be more then what I remember from beta. Except more content and less bugs. And more dancing. Lots more dancing.

The shooting is well made and visuals are ok, nice animations, but content (things to do) is small and your going to get bored unless you actually like to do nothing but PvP. 
Hope you´ll enjoy it, personally. its not worth it. not even if it was on PC.

I liked PVP in beta

Short story/campaign and lots of grind.

More grind then AW?

Damn blues... Story is well, i don't even remember it if that tells you anything. Jumping around is fun; at least to me it is. Its a grindfest. Gun play is satisfactory for a console shooter. Leveling up past 20 is well lets say unique. Hmm what else is there... Hunter is awesome especially blade dancer.

I sure hope you like grinding for epic loot for several weeks, running the exact same raid over and over again (not because they're rare but because the whole system is designed that way) and having that exact loot become obsolete in 2 months because the next expension dropped. I really don't like their business model tbh.

All of that said, PvP is apparently fun because it's actually a good shooter. The actual MMO part of the game, not so much.

Hunter was my fav class

I know how the leveling past 20 works. Based on gear rating. Interesting indeed. At least it means you can't be rekt easily because of bad gear for your level

I ran the raid in Beta like. probs 10 times or more. I found it still entertaining because it was different each time because of the players I was with.

Destiny in a nutshell.

 

It's a good game it's new and a fun experience that does put you in the destiny world.

 

But pretty much you play for like 4 hours you level up get new weapons armor stuff like that.

 

Then the game is just boring just flat out boring you can't even get sucked in like WoW would suck you in.

 

You run out of things to do you end up just running around killing everything with one shot.

 

Unlike the game trailers etc. there aren't alot of people like it shows it ends up everyone just being afk in the hub.

 

And when you join/play you are either a low level player or a extremely high lvl player.

 

The A.I in the game is very good the mechanics of the game the graphics are good at least on ps4 it is.

 

But in the end it's a game where you get bored the world becomes bland and it just get's boring because you have done everything in like 15 hours.

 

Until they add more to the game or something like that it is a "Okay" game.

Maybe it's because most of the people I know that played Destiny are/were hardcore WoW players, but all of them hated it for all of the reasons I just told you. Hmm, I can see it being fun if you're always one expansion behind with your friends, you should be able to just buy appropriate gear and casually run the raids then. That + PvP are the only redeeming factors as far as I know. And again, that terrible business model....

All games get boring. but as a casual player I don't think it would be too too quickly.

Borderlands + WoW if you took everything both games did wrong and made them into one game.

 

Customization

An absolute joke and was more complex in games like KotOR.

 

Story

Almost non-existent and designed to force you to use Bnet for little scraps of lore.

 

PvP

Fun but the same sub-classes are always played so it gets rather samey much faster than any other game.

 

Visuals

Didn't they only achieve 1080 by bringing the FOV to ungodly low levels?

 

Leveling

A joke. They pretty much made the grind from 1-20 an absolute bore fest because "The real fun begins at 20!"

By that they mean you'll be grinding hardcore for each light level to bump to 21+ to do raids.

 

Raids

Got to bored to do them myself but all my friends do them and they say they're tedious as hell.

 

Strikes

Point gun at bullet sponge. Shoot for 45 minutes. Boss is kill.

Roaming Multiplayer

A single map is broken into like 10 instance zones that you "seemlessly" pass through and at most will see 5 other people but more commonly you're just by yourself or bump into another random person until you or they step over the magic line and are gone forever

 

World Events

You + 5 other potential people bumping into the same 1 minute event.

Make sure you have your phone near you while playing. Those damn Grimore cards tell more story than the actual game. But you have to download the app in order to see those. 

 

I played the game for 4 weeks. I beat the "story mode" in less than a day. It was a constant grind to do anything once you beat the main "story mode." Once they patched the loot cave, it made the game pointless. That was a place where you could meet up with other players and actually have fun. 

 

Do you have 5 other friends that own Destiny? No? Well then you're not doing the raids because there's no matchmaking for those, which is bullshit. Are they going to patch in MM for the raids? They've said constantly they're not. 

 

I hated the game because I like the story in games. There is no story in this game. Is it a good shooter? Yes. I liked the shooting but the lack of a story drove me away from playing it.
