P9x79-E ws and 980 not working.

Frufsa

Hi.

Having a problem getting a 980 strix card to work with my p9x79-E WS motherboard.

I kown the card is working, have tried it in another pc.

I know the rest of the pc is working, my old card works just fine.

I know my psu is big enough (1000w)

Have tried the 1501 bios, and the 1601 bios.

Have tried to clear cmos.

Have flashed the bios several times.

But no mather what i do, I end up with an qcode saing "b2"(62?) and the vga led on the mobo starts to light up(the one signalizing a problem with the gpu). Abd no image on the screen what so ever.

TL;DR: 980 and p9x79-e ws not working together, error code b2.

Are you using DisplayPort or HDMI? This sounds like what happens to me about 70% of the time I try to boot up just using DisplayPort.

Ah. And you're definitely on the most recent BIOS?

Not now, now I'm on the 1501 bios, legit review used it to test 980 card so thougt I'd give it a shot. But have tried the latest (1601) bios

Have you tried it on other PCIe slots?

Cant, needed tl modify the case to get the card inn, so it only fits in one pci slot. But my old 760 card works kn that slot.

But always try to be on latest BIOS! Try to power it on with both the GPU's. Put the output on 980. See if it works. Comment here with result.

Tried with a 680 i had lying around:

Only 980, no post

980 and 680 no display connected, b2

980 and 680 display connected to 980, b2

980 and 680 display connected to 680, b2

Only 680, booted just fine, even without display connected.

And just to point it out, the 980 card works just fine in annother rig. So I know the card is working.

I have now tried to use the PCI slot on the MoBo that doesnt run through the PLX chip, with the same result, I'm getting the B2 error code.
