Switching from AMD to Intel without reinstalling Windows 7?

Coming up here soon I'm switching from my AMD FX-8320 and Biostar TA970 to an Intel Core i7 4790k and Asus Maximus VII Formula. I was wondering if there was a way to make this switch without reinstall Windows on my machine. The ideas I had was uninstall the current chipset drivers, and/or install the new drivers with my current setup. From what I've read Windows 7 is fairly good at making hardware adjustments, but since I'm switching chipsets, CPUs, and brands, I thought there might be issues. Let me know what you think, thanks!

I've never had to reinstall, but you'll likely need to reactivate Windows.

Pretty much guaranteed you'll need to re-activate. Personally, moving chipsets so drastically I'd probably reinstall anyway. If you're on windows 8 you'll probably be OK though. Windows 7, maybe not but give it a go. Worst thing that could happen is it doesn't boot.

nahh it will boot...worst thing that can happen is windows give 30 days to reactivate.

This. Windows reads your hardware ID. You can just reactivate over the phone using the activation ID code in Windows.

I would suggest a fresh install after switching to a different chipset. I had major issues after changing my mobo and CPU without doing a fresh install. It was throwing all kinds of hardware bugcheck codes.

You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?
