Light-gaming Laptop for $600-800 USD

isHypnophobic

Evening, LTT Peeps!

I'm looking for help in picking out a laptop for a friend's college graduation present. A list of Laptops would be appreciated. I'm not really that versed in mobile laptop gaming anymore. :'(

The laptop in question will be used in the day for light office work and power internet browsing (So lots of tabs with Tumblr and 1080p 60fps YT).

At night, it is expected to play Steam games like Batman Arkham Origins and Skyrim in a respectable 60fps (High Settings will be fine). Must also have variable keyboard colour lighting (they were REALLY adamant about this feature).

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Right, but the budget is around 800 bucks. Lol I would get that too if it was my money being spent, but her parents really only have 800USD max.

Thanks! I didn't know the Y40 existed! Putting this up on the list.

But yeah, my friend saw my alienware M11x back when we were still freshmen and really wanted it. Now that she's getting her own, she also wants the keyboard to be able to change colours.

Alright thanks for the input. Not having a glow-y RGB keyboard shouldn't be that big of an upset. Seeing that she's upgrading from an HP Laptop from the 7th grade--9 years ago.

  • 4 weeks later...

Y40 in my country is 1400

Consider urself lucky

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

Dang, that's quite a hike. Yeah seeing how parts are more expensive on different places in the world, I do consider myself lucky.

Ther are many suggestions made for the specified budget may be have a look at this $600-800 budget which may help you with some assistance in building.

Thanks thanks but I was asking for laptops specifically. I can handle designing desktop builds with that budget--it's just that I'm sort of clueless when it comes to the portable PC gaming area.

You may be able to find cheaper ones of similar specs, but Lenovo supply really high quality machines for the price.
